Universal Editor Lite
HI.
Since nobody likes to release anything anymore except other peoples' work...I figured, since I'm a wonderful person, to release something.
So I've wanted to work on something like this ever since I saw the SHN Editor. I hated having multiple tools for one solution. So here is ES's very early version, Universal Editor Lite.
The Extrinsic Studio: Universal Editor Lite makes it easy for you to manage your files (and other aspects).

This lite version is quite similar to the other public editors around, except the Advanced version (which isn't available to the public at this stage) has a few more tools and some stability fixes. The Universal Editor Series also handles files much more efficiently using all the bytes within the editor to minimize breakage of files.
I've worked all week on this editor and plan on introducing other elements/tools within it to allow for a one-tool management system, to allow a person to only have to use a single application for Fiesta development, there is also a backup feature which creates a backup of each file you edit, you can also open multiple/drag-drop multiple files over the display to open files.
Please feel free to distribute this version as you wish; this is only the public Lite version which has the basic features needed to open/view the SHN files.
Please report any bugs also so I can make the application much more robust and secure.

You should include the "minimize breakage of files" fix in the Lite version too, not only in Advanced version as otherwise SHN Editor will be more popular - unless you make much more tools inside your Lite version.

This version carries the stability; it's pretty much the framework from my Advanced version, I made a mistake in the way I wrote the sentence; I'll correct that now, thank you.

Nice work, a lot better than the SHN Editor. Well, not the Lite version, but the Advanced version looks neat. Though, I don't love the fact that I have to see the Extrinsic Studios icon every time I look at my files.

when editing mobviewinfo it adds 0 to all the empty spots. (ie: texture)

What's the problem with that ?
it allocates a default value cause it does not allow NULL (on shn editor it was 1500 by default)

Sounds about right, as said above, I've got it using 0's instead of null values (although if a cell is null when saving, it'll auto-convert it to a zero).

Typo: In Search Form, when clicking "Apply Changes" it says "Saved changes for %s" -> "Changes applied for %s".
Wouldn't be better, because it isn't saving in reality?
And for the default value. For numeric columns would be "0" as it is now,
but for text columns should be "-".
And for the bugs/issues, I think there is none to report. :P

Too true; I'll apply the text adjustment and the column default.
I've coded the column adding/removal forms, just not sure if those should make their way into the Lite v1.3.0.0 or not.

Not for the lite version, I fixed up the column control for the advanced one but I'm still not sure if I'll add those forms to the lite.
I moved houses as well so, I've been busy this week getting settled and moving shit around, so I should be back with 1.3.0.0 in a week or two, it's horribly hard balancing two real-life projects and a couple online projects; turns chaotic, but I'll keep on, keeping on. :thumbup:

Sounds neat. For the advanced version, you should add custom crypt option. Helps servers prevent leechers.
Tell me about it. Moving houses here as well, as well as working on some projects. So tiring. :)

Already got them implemented, they're in the latest lite version, but you can't switch crypts, the advanced allows you to switch crypts/encoding on the fly, I'll add a custom-encrypt option soon, which will allow you to create your own crypt and apply the changes to all the services/bin (as well as all your files) then, save the crypt as a special key on the machine to allow only their editor (or any editor where the key is located) to use the custom crypt.
I still have to implement the export/import options (I'm going to setup two options; .xls files and tab-delimited text files for importing/exporting); both will be view able in Excel of course.

Nice Editor. But it bugs the TextData.shn in Odin Files as far as I saw. It says Go to Od] instead of Go to Odin Store or Odin StQ "X"Key

I got Go to o3r8ufhref or some random stuff. Np, doesn't hurt to use v1 of shn editor once in a while.

Test my newest lite and lemme' know if you still experience this issue, I fixed an issue linked to the column-type a couple weeks ago so hopefully you don't experience it again.

Course of Action: Open TextData(1-3).shn and save, and then look it in game.
@Myth
The above files use type 26 which is called ZeroTerminatedBytes. As the name says that is must have Zero byte at the end, but in your case the Editor doesn't add it.
The random symbols come because of that. Client starts to read from start and read till it finds the Zero byte, but it finds it from next record (The row length zero byte).
You can use the form and freely edit it. It should get you all needed info for the bugs.:wink:

Error Message: Object reference not set to ....
Course of Action: Open any file. Open Search Form. Press Search. Start to edit something (There must be cursor blinking). And now close the Search Form. Reopen it and click search. And you got an error :P

Error: Row 0 has an invalid row-length - Remaining: 65532
when saving on v1.4 on windows 8
but it will open and save fine in other editors. (and still works)
but works fine (same file) on win 7 with v1.2

Name of the file? Can you possibly upload the file here? Csharps editor didn't take advantage of row-lengths (hence why the dialog files broke; because the few columns which use row-lengths to read would break).

This editor can ruin the files sometimes. So you might have to fix this bug, it doesn't always correctly edit the files.

I'll fix up the previous mentioned bug (within ItemViewInfo.shn) before next release, just been busy with studies and another project.

Any update yet? :O: I'm having the same issue as Anquietas with ItemViewInfo.

Then after you hit Okay, it just starts spazzing out.

Sorry for a super-late reply, but no, I've had this project on hold for a long time now, with all my efforts on Ignis at this stage.
I do intend to get back to work on this editor, possibly adding more features to the public version but thus far, my Advanced is also on hold.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused, a moderator can close this thread as there'll be nothing new for this release for a couple months at least.
