Any ideas for a url I should buy? It's for my blog
So I'm ready to buy a domain, buy hosting, and get my website up on a cool url.
Currently I'm up at leepricerisetopower.wordpress.com and it's served the purpose of giving me somewhere to put stuff. I'm using the website as somewhere I can share and showcase my own writing. Currently I have many categories, but I will be tidying them up with my new design. It really boils down to my martial arts coaching, fitness & health, my philosophy, and some other small bits. I sometimes write poetry but would class that with philosophy, because I try to write something with a point behind it.
I was thinking along the lines of leeprice.com or lee-price, but I was also thinking of martial-lee.com. The truth is I'm not sure! So if you care or have the time, give me some suggestions, it would help!
I'm considering a few categories when I choose but the url doesn't necessarily have to have them all. Things like, how easily it represents me, how it represents the content, does it flow when you read it / say it, how well it would lend itself to SEO. Anything :P

If it's just a site you're going to host you can always get free web-hosting?

It all depends based on what you are going to blog about: Now clearly you like and do Martial arts so do something like: Lee-Ma or like vLife said LeeArts or LeePriceArts or something like that.
Whatever makes your heart goes pounding would be good i suppose.

Using kinda the same idea as the guy above.
"exblog.co.uk" <--- not taken as of this message.
The reason I didn't like his is because I read "Marti" "Alex". Idk, just me. In my opinion URLs should be under 8 letters and easy to remember. "exblog.co.uk" does just that.
Re: Any ideas for a url I should buy? It's for my blog
The name doesn't matter, as long as its catchy and the content is good, people will use it. Just looked at RZ, the name has nothing to do with the content any more, and yet it's dominated the market.
exclamatio.co.uk is available. If you want your online personal to bleed into real life, it could be a way to do it. Plus the buttons on the site could be single exclamations, which would tie in with the name somewhat. Plus it has an X which makes it auto an interesting word, like RZ. Shame exy is taken as that would have x and y for double awesome.

But the me.uk is rarely used and people won't really remember it that fast

Thanks for every reply so far!
I hadn't seriously considered using exclamatio or a variant until now. One of the reasons for a good domain was to have a nice looking email on business cards. I think I would be happy with leeprice@exclamatio.co.uk, though. Rob, I love the idea of having the sites' skin like the url too.
My first choice would be a .com, but I'm willing to get .co.uk. One of the reasons is most of my views will be coming from the states, I want the .com for that first impression on new visitors. The .co.uk may have its own benefits too. Id take martial-ex over martialex, simply to keep it easy to read. I think it's quite important to an easy to read and remember url.
It's probably most important that I can use the url to directly market myself to businesses, blogs and anyone who might pay me to write. That's an important reason to simply go for my real name.

Honestly, as an American, I would be more intrigued by a 'co.uk' address, than '.com' any day. As for the reason, I can't really put it into words, but it just adds more personality to your domain. '.com' is really generic, while '.co.uk' gives an idea of where you are from, and I think that is important in its own right.

.coms tend to be a bitch to get simply because people buy them hoping someone will one day want it and they can sell it for a shit load. I think pretty much every group of letters below 5 have been taken by now, it's kinda silly. I'd suggest going with as short a name as possible, unless it's something meaningful to you (or two words).
Martial to mean feels very military-ish. It's also very aggressive in nature imo, and I'm not sure how agressive you want to sound on a business card. Perhaps a more defensive term would be better? I was looking at synonyms and the word Aegis is pretty cool imo. I've never understood why Martial Arts covered self defence personally, as martial is warlike, so surely martial arts started out as an army practice? I think you should start a whole new trend called Aegis Arts, for specifically self defence. AegisArts.co.uk is available btw.
Re: Any ideas for a url I should buy? It's for my blog
Aye great points. I'm leaning towards a .co.uk now. A few friends overseas have said the same things as you Wucas.
I agree with martial feeling too strong. Martial art itself is a mistranslation of the word budo, which was the development of yourself with the intent of having strength to ensure peacefulness. Martial art or martial arts is far closer to bujitsu, than budo.
Aegis sounds cool, it's more all encompassing than martial art or martial-lee for example. My approach to teaching is eclectic, I think that's why I've found it hard to narrow the title to one or two words.
