Will anyone remember the smaller developers?
It's just something that has grabbed my attention for pretty much the last months. There are thousands of devs on this forum. I'm pretty sure a smaller developer like me is going to be forgotten in what, ?2 months? by everyone I ever helped. Most people here don't even know me even though I've spent so many days working on projects for Habbo. It's really demotivating thinking about it this way..
Re: Will anyone remember the smaller developers?
I dont see why. People here only have a reputation because they either did something for the community or they screwed some people over.
You have a good reputation and I doubt you'll be forgotten as you made some great CMS' and stuff.

Cuz of my good reputation people forgot my bad things :fanny:
But, it's more the old lurking users who bring back the names of developers. Properly most online users dont know Nillus, Slaxxer, IJakey, Zak, Wichard and so on.
I kinda feel the same about it, but nothing you can really do about it. For me it's just a time consuming thing. Dont really have other words for it.
Re: Will anyone remember the smaller developers?
I think everyone knows Nillus, his work is still used today (Uber was based on Ion/Deltar - Uber is still mainstream in the variant of "renames" four years on).
Re: Will anyone remember the smaller developers?
I dont think anyone would forget about the old-school developers (whether they were popular or not-so-popular) as long as the community keeps their legacy alive.
Re: Will anyone remember the smaller developers?
If you do something big for the community, you name will not be forgettable.
Do something big and get a legend.
Biggest part about Habbo-Retro is "USA111" for me. I don't know why, but I think without that german guy the community would be not so big like it is.

Especially the influence that USA111 had for other developers that introduced their new servers (at the time) without all of this we wouldn't be where we are today.
Re: Will anyone remember the smaller developers?
Most of us will be forgotten. Don't develop to be remembered but develop to develop yourself. Who really cares if you get remembered as long as you remember what you have done then that should be good enough.
Re: Will anyone remember the smaller developers?
I doubt anyone from this "era" of the Habbo world will be remembered in 5 years as it won't exist. Many of people do deserve to be remembered, for there bad evil cunning plans, or there great contributions. Take a look at the main people from the past (ie Meth0d, Aaron(Sojobo)...) And all the others. They are remembered because without them, there would be none of this. It would most likely be a few cms's and a few little emulators.
But then again, would you really want to be remembered in a virtual world being torn apart?

I used to develop to test my own abilities and learn what I can improve on. But being remembered for your work is something you could be proud of.
Re: Will anyone remember the smaller developers?
I feel sorry for those people that didn't get to experience this community within it's peak, pre-flash stage. It was truly amazing and I'm just glad I was sad enough to experience it.
Re: Will anyone remember the smaller developers?
Kudos to me for being the only one to make it to the official Sulake blog by name though, right? ... Wait that wasn't fun for me :(

That's because you've been using your real name everywhere Mr. Marshall.
Re: Will anyone remember the smaller developers?
Tbh I gotta say it was all Aarons and Roy's and sulakes fault for habbo and retros going down the drain. However I thank them as they made myself $1000+ back in the day when phoenix could run on a 512 MB vps that costed me 8 dollars from thrust. However it also tought me after why the fuck am I even owning a hotel after my profits went down. I eventually felt sorry for those who spent cash on it. Aaron made lots of people lazy. Perhaps me he made me lazy to the point I didn't wanna learn c# to fix my at the time great uber edit I put together from fixes from here as it always crashed after having loads on. Then it made me switch to Phoenix and learn HTML and CSS and little php.
