Exploring a retro Habbo client (a possible transition in development for retros)
Definition: I define a retro as a Habbo Hotel private server (this may be wrong, but this is my context).
---
So, I spent the last two days exploring a few things in AS3 and consequently found myself working on my own spin off of the Habbo client. Surprisingly, it was not that challenging (aside from familiarizing myself with the basic semantics of the language)... after about a day I had implemented some trivial animations to my main stage and a working TCP client module that can send/receive packets using my own packet structure. To get some immediate feedback on what it would be like to pursue this idea, I began implementing a basic spin off of the Habbo messenger and to my surprise it was a very smooth process... (getting side tracked).
My question is, has anyone considered creating their own Habbo client (using their images or a close spin off)? If someone has already pursued this idea, what were your experiences? If someone were to pursue this idea, what do you think the outcome would be (a vague question, feel free to extrapolate)? Lastly, how do you think Habbo would react if we began working on our own Habbo clients for retros.
I am speculating about a possible, first, retro client.
Re: Exploring the Habbo client (possibly your own retro client)
I dont see a point why you would re-create the client and in ending up both the same as the original.
Just a waste of time in my opinion.
There are people from this retro community that are currently working for Sulake so everything you do, they're trying to make your work harder.

I am attempting to stir a discussion about a transition in development (such as that one); getting opinions on whether it would be deemed viable if retros transitioned from emulating Habbo using their client to creating their own spin off (a real spin off -- such as creating their own client, not little edits).
Updated the thread to better communicate what I had in mind.

If you have the talent to create your own 'Habbo' client you might as well just start making your own MMOCC - with your own grahics and whatnot, this discussion has been talked about to death, literally, and I mean literally!

Working on R62-based client ATM.
Anyone interested in it?

You always start projects, next minute it's R34, then R63 then R62.

To be honest, if you do it correctly and make a game LIKE Habbo, Sulake can't sue you since you use your own codes :) But you still have to make sure you're using a bit of a different UI.
@OT:
Well, I tried it a long time ago, writing my own protocol. It's not that hard but it's not really fun to make.

Yes, I posted that comment.

Well, as long as you use your own images, literally editing every single pixelated image there is on Habbo, then Sulake can't really warn you to shut down your hotel because you aren't using their copyrighted images, but ofcourse you'll have to design your own UI, so in a way you're making something different to Habbo yet using their elements.
And yes, this sort of discussion always happens, but people always fail, mostly because they don't have the motivation to do it. I've seen a lot of people attempting this but none has ever succeeded.

So what if he works for Sulake...
It would be fun to see someone write up a client using JavaScript & WebSockets (JS is pretty fast nowadays with emscripten and asm.js).

Everything we do to bypass Sulakes' security he probably patch it.

And everything he patches we'll bypass eventually.

Yes but why wasting time on that?
