Flappy Birds Removal: A Flappy Publicity Stunt or A Flappy Truth
So what do you think?
Quote:
Flappy Bird's creator has revealed that the mobile game will be taken down tomorrow (February 9).
Dong Nguyen tweeted the news earlier today, explaining that he "can't take this anymore".

He has subsequently clarified that "it is not anything related to legal issues", adding: "I just cannot keep it anymore."
Flappy Bird recently rocketed to the top of the App Store and Google Play charts, and set Facebook and Twitter feeds ablaze with boasts of high scores and talks of strategies.
Nguyen has expressed unease at the attention he has received, tweeting earlier this week: "Press people are overrating the success of my games. It is something I never want. Please give me peace."
Earlier today, he wrote: "I can call 'Flappy Bird' is a success of mine. But it also ruins my simple life. So now I hate it."

I get the feeling this was said to draw more people in who haven't become obsessed with it yet. Time will tell.

This is probably the best video that sums up how I feel about the game LOL.

Re: Flappy Birds Removal: A Flappy Publicity Stunt or A Flappy Truth
In can relate, the game has given him unwanted attention & some people simply prefer their normal lives than having all this responsibility. Regardless if something was making me alot of cash, if it was having an undesired affect on my life i would also throw it in. Having thousands of people hounding after you for fixes or updates can be extremely daunting and I'm sure the initial "fun" is quickly lost from a project like this.

Re: Flappy Birds Removal: A Flappy Publicity Stunt or A Flappy Truth
It seems he stole the graphics from someone and the concept wasn't original either and knows someone is going to be filled with hatred and hungry for revenge.

Re: Flappy Birds Removal: A Flappy Publicity Stunt or A Flappy Truth
What is there to change about the game that causes him in distressed?
He could always just simply add some customs for the birds and people would already make a fuss about it.

Re: Flappy Birds Removal: A Flappy Publicity Stunt or A Flappy Truth
He makes 50,000 dollars a day, it's been the top game on Android and iOS for two weeks now. He's gotten the money to needs to live. I would probably pull it if it was making my life hell.

Re: Flappy Birds Removal: A Flappy Publicity Stunt or A Flappy Truth
If I was making 50k a day, but it was making my life miserable, I'd turn off my pc and phone for a couple of weeks. Take a vacation, and let the cash flow :D.

Yea, then come home & have to deal with legal threats & court summons. He was on the brink of having a law suit on his hands, he borrowed things from here & there and is lucky it even got this far tbh. Pulling the app & running with the cash would be what any smart person should be doing.

Why the hell are people caring about this? These games have been around for years and years. Seriously who cares.

10 Million + android and iphone users obviously... Haven't you been watching bruh?

Re: Flappy Birds Removal: A Flappy Publicity Stunt or A Flappy Truth
But why should I care about that? People are mindless zombies "oh look, this game is so cool, you must install it"... Every phone has a whole bunch of them already, this just happened to get popular and everyone jumps on it without even thinking what they are doing.

Re: Flappy Birds Removal: A Flappy Publicity Stunt or A Flappy Truth
And now people are selling their phones that have Flappy Bird installed, prices ranging from $300 to (a probably fake bid of) $90,000.... (source)

Well, my post was posted assuming that he did not have legal troubles. But merely pulled the game because the stress of it getting way too big was getting to him.

Re: Flappy Birds Removal: A Flappy Publicity Stunt or A Flappy Truth
I believe the creator took it down due to the following reason;
A person in Chicago murdered his brother.
Some of the news article:
The first killing involved real blood after 16-year-old Gary Wright of Chicago stabbed to death 17-year-old brother Jaban Wright over the latter's high score of 17 in the game. The stabbing was preceded by Jaban teasing Gary who got a score of only 6.
It seems the brothers have a thing for the number 17 because Gary stabbed his 17-year-old brother 17 times over the 17 score that Jaban got. After he killed his brother, Gary called the police and turned himself in.

Good thing his brother didn't get a score of 150, would have been hard to count, also very messy.

What I don't get, is why people just don't share the APK for android devices.

Flappy Bird's creator has explained his decision to pull the game from online services.
Doug Nguyen removed the popular title from the App Store and Google Play over the weekend, stating that he 'couldn't take this anymore'.
The 29-year-old has since told Forbes that he was motivated by guilt to end the game because it had become too "addictive".
"Flappy Bird was designed to play in a few minutes when you are relaxed," Nguyen said.
"But it happened to become an addictive product. I think it has become a problem. To solve that problem, it's best to take down Flappy Bird. It's gone forever."
The developer, who revealed that he "couldn't sleep" due to the success of the mobile phenomenon, went on to say: "I don't think it's a mistake. I have thought it through... My life has not been as comfortable as I was before."
Nguyen also denied reports that the app's demise had anything to do with a legal threat from Nintendo, and vowed to continue designing games.
"After the success of Flappy Bird, I feel more confident, and I have freedom to do what I want to do," he concluded.

Re: Flappy Birds Removal: A Flappy Publicity Stunt or A Flappy Truth
You realize that those offers are fake right? Nobody is stupid enough to pay that much for a shitty game like that.
I also find his confidence extremely funny, he made a shitty game, 1 of the worst versions of this type of game, because after all, it doesn't become more difficult and there are no extra's. It is the most basic and simplest version of any possible game. What confidence could he get from that?

Re: Flappy Birds Removal: A Flappy Publicity Stunt or A Flappy Truth
At 50k a day I'd gain some confidence too. Whether false confidence or otherwise lol. Regardless I think those prices are ridiculous. Fake or not, it's just a bit ott.
