Really. 475415715613265843140546324189654128965412968523 thread asking that, review the fkcing forum before open thread like this....FIRST SITE, IT LITERALLY JUMPS IN YOUR FACE!

And unlike those 475415715613265843140546324189654128965412968523 threads at least i've already read that forum post and got fucking billions of errors. Suppose to be a simple read however it fucking crashes the server any dam way. Thanks for showing how unhelpful you are. ^_^ I shall patiently wait for someone who is kind enough to really help. When setting up the ODBC it says that that information is wrong. When setting up the SQL Server it does not request and unsername and pass...Yeah i been trying to figure this out for 3 days now.
Everyone got it working with the tut, but u#re a special one mmhhh?
The error sits in front of the screen, not inside the computer-housing.
I think i was helpfull enough by posting the link to the tut (that everyone else found on their own btw......).
Read the first lines of the tut, there's something like "Not for beginners" in it, but all the UI addicted kids don't understand it.
Read the tut exactly and everything will work fine.
I did exactly as the tut says. And i get this error.
000029 2014-02-23 14:41:38 DB_Init FAILED = DSN=AccountLog; UID=sa; PWD=***
I put the right pass and sa like it said and i keep getting that assert every time without fail. I checked the serverinfo.txt and redid the ODBC and redid the SQL server DB as well. Started from scratch and everythng and no matter what it is that same exact error without fail. You want to teamview me and see what i am doing wrong cause no matter what i do it keeps getting the same on Account log, Character log, and Game log. Odin rest log will start to launch but then it times out. either way i get that same error on the rest. The zones start with no errors though. And so does manager servers and login both start with no errors. Even when i dod the test data source on the ODBC it says it is successful but when i start the service it crashes.
For odin reset server i also get this error.
[3] [2/23/2014 3:03:07 PM] :: ******DATABASE CONNECT FAIL******
[3] [2/23/2014 3:03:07 PM] :: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)
do u have installed odbc right ? are u using WIN8 ?
Windows server 2008 r2. And i am pretty i have it installed right as it said but it wont connect either way. I think i have the SQL server itself not installed right would be my real issue if so. ODBC is easy to follow but the SQL server set up is so plain and simple and not explained in detail other than to just add it in. Might be the errors im getting that the DB is not connecting like the last one i posted if so i will need to remake it once again.

LOL!!!! HAHAHA! Well i figured out why odinrest would not start. Lol i had a back up of my presvious server due to my head dev decided to quit and deleted all the server files. Anyway the setting i had it up for the computer name was wrong. changed it and it went up first try.
lol okay...
Now it is account log game log and character log refuse to start
Are you getting The _Account DB Server service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs.
If you are it's an ODBC problem. I imagine you're running 64 bit so i think you need to make sure these are running in obdcad32(can be found in windows/system32). Hope it works out for you.
That is the exact error i am getting. And i already checked that :/
Check your debug files :c
Mhm i already posted the error i get from my debug files.
00029 2014-02-23 14:41:38 DB_Init FAILED = DSN=AccountLog; UID=sa; PWD=***
Posted there again though. I am not sure what i am doing wrong exactly....I might have to start over again from scratch. I already did 5 times and i get the same exact error each time.

If you want i can give you teamviewer access to check on it if you like. This is giving me a headache badly now.
Did you configure the SQL username and password? .-.

PM Me your TV info
I can still say that you haven't read this part:
Because it contained a small path error, which ppl should mention if they can't find the file in the specified location. (Underlined part was missing)Quote:
DSN-s must be defined in correct place
32-bit: Start -> Run -> %SystemDrive%\Windows\System32\Odbcad32.exe
64-bit: Start -> Run -> %SystemDrive%\Windows\System32\SysWoW64\Odbcad32.exe
Ah no i did not see that part i shall try it now tyvm
