The login freezing is due to dataserver standby mode. It also freezes vaults. The only solution to that (that i know) is to make a simple dataserver restarter in a .bat file... but the bug will not...

Then in config.php set the debug mode to 1 and do the install again. That should give you more details about the problem.
Did you tried changing ODBC to MSSQL in config.php?
Does the web hosting have mssql extension enabled?
Also, make sure your sql info is correct (ip, db name, pass for sa or sql user)..

If the server works fine in local, then the problem is your global ip/dns (or no-ip) or your ports. Check if gs and cs ports are open.
