The setting for instance dungeons is on 1 by default. I still haven't found out what to change to allow for opening more fight arenas.
If anyone figures out how to change/lower the exp rates and other things, please let me know.

After downloading all the files and stuff I have another problem (due to my own ignorance, of course). I know VM stands for virtual machine, but I don't know how exactly to go about getting one...
It might sound crazy but there's certain aspects of season 1 that I prefer over the changes made in season 2 lol.
