Anyone tried it yet?

Looking for an RPG for me 360, which has pretty much been neglected for months.

Would you recommend it?

And if not, why so? :o

Get Oblivion.

Lost Odyssey comes in 4 discs for 360. 2 of those discs are simply cut scenes. The battling system is turn based and it is extremely similar to Blue Dragon. You'll be battling mostly with rings which are obtained as your progress through the story. The game has slow frame rate and the combat system is poorly done. The game has massive amount of loading time. New maps take as long as 2 minutes to load and expect few lags every once in a while.

On the bright side, Lost Odyssey has a great story and the graphics are pleasing to the eye. The characters in the game are well developed. Lost Odyssey is an interactive movie. Buy this game if you like traditional RPG's. It will take up a good amount of your time.

lost odyssey is by some of the guys that did final fantasy so the stories good, i personally try to own a copy of every rpg available for the 360 cus im just an rpg whore.

Oblivion was good but you have to appreciate that style of game for it to be worth the money so if you played morrowind and enjoyed then get it.

right now im playing through two worlds which has some noticeable lag issues and the story line is boring since you talk like a 14C drunkard (very funny at times though) but it is absolutely huge and has an uncapped levelling system (which really pissed me off in oblivion). i'd compare it to a Dungeons & dragons game or baldurs gate.

Every other game listed as RPG for the 360 is either turn based or incurs a monthly fee to play online, so it all becomes about what story you want to play through.

Suggesting such an old game for the 360, which I've got, to which I've not touched a month since its release ages ago. :o

Old is gold. Oblivion is simply one of the best RPG's ever created.

What about Mass Effect, that came out recently.

Powerful storyline, intense combat, great visual. Do I need to add any more?

Mass Effect is Oblivion mixed with Star Wars. You have to power to change the story based on your dialogs with other characters. You can either be a bad ass and dictate things the way you like it or be a good soldier and follow your orders. There are tons of weapons, armors and upgrades. You can customize your weapons and armors the way you like it. If you hate using guns, than you can go hardcore and use your biotic powers. The more you play this game, the better it gets.

Mass Effect is excellent. Unless you really don't like the genre, then it's almost impossible for anyone to dislike it.

You'll be playing lost odyssey longer, it's a very good game. Prob one of the best rpgs on the 360, Mass effect is brilliant too however but not that long, if you explore you'll prob clock the game at about 30hours, about 10 if you just rush through it. Lost Odyssey is turn-based as I'm sure you're aware, and Mass Effect is alot more action orientated. You couldn't go wrong with either tbh!

You know how to sum up what you said in the shortest way?

Lost Odyssey = Japanese style RPG
Oblivion & Mass Effect = Western style RPG

Whats the difference? Japanese is typically a turn based style of combat, long detailed stories, tons of cut scenes, and anime style artwork. Western style is more of an action game with RPG elements like leveling and stats, few cut scenes (if any) and more realistic artwork.

Both styles of RPGs are completely different and it's down to what you like. I myself love Japanese style RPGs as I am a huge fan of the ones Square has done. As for Western style ones. They are good but no where near as laid back and in-depth as Japanese ones are.

NoPeace - out
