reason as to why YouTube video's have been taken down because of copyright issues? I've noticed a lot of mixtapes/mmvs being take down because of it, using songs,clips,videos,etc that are supposedly copyrighted. Anyone else annoyed? Anyone know why this is happening now? Greed anyone?

I think also in the tpb case they mentioned that youtube has more copyrighted material then tpb, and so youtube might be trying to cut down on it abit - either way I don't really care because I only don't use youtube that much.

well based on my experience because my vid was copyrighted before which was a maple music video. youtube asked me to either delete the vid, defend it which has a low chance and will eventually be deleted or replace the audio i used with the audio they suggested. i decided to replace the vid's audio.. i didnt want my hard work to go to waste. and whatever happened to YouTube's "Broadcast yourself" if they keep doing the copyright. well of course i was pissed and i would never forget it. ><" LOL thats why some of the great mmv makers are quitting they hate being copyrighted. i almost quit too but i didnt give up =].

On a personal level: Its annoying to have many great videos without the sound, because it was a copyright case

professional level: Sad that the makers of the video didn't have the permission to make it and release it.

The reason why they are doing this is simply because Youtube has been getting sued, it's really quite simple, they haven't been doing much against piracy, and that's a big no-no.
Everyone knows that when you offer any kind of service that includes uploading stuff that illegal things will be put on it, that's acceptable, you can't screen everything straight away, however Youtube was just doing jack shit, they just figure aslong as we don't get enough trouble then it's fine. Well now is the point where they do get in trouble for it, so they finally are doing things the legal way.

you make it, and publish and produce it you own it. if you don't want people to rip you off you go to the goverment and then they went to youtube because about 50% of people use limewire/frostwire and don't really contribute to band/artist. So now their going hardcore

Viacom has bitched alot, which raised awareness of copyrighted stuff on youtube. I still remember Prince makin em take down a video of a 2 year old dancing to one of his songs.
