auto-configure ip? failed to connect over internet

hi,

i have set up a server and everything is working fine for me. but other people can only connect to login server and then it just says "failed to conect to server"

heres how the configuration is.

i have a SERVER machine and my own client machine connected to a router that connects both to the internet. all the login, char and map server ports are forwarded correctly to the SERVER computer. (in my case 10001, 10002, and 10003 respectively)

when i try to connect over lan using the inner IP address (10.0.0.18) everything is fine. but when my friend tries to connect from his computer, thus over internet, using my outer IP address (71.108.xxx.xxx). he can only log in and when he chooses the server it just says "failed to connect to server"

i can see from the SERVER machine that he is logged in (in login-server) but the char-server and map-server doesnt show any reaction.

i used an older version of SVN before (like 380 or something, a very old one) and i didnt have a problem like this. but now i use the latest trunk (13996) and noone can connect over internet. i'm guessing it is because of the "auto configuring ip..." thing the map-server does when it starts.

can anyone help me with that?

so you have router? did you make lop back adaptor? its better for auto connect the internet to use a dns. because you have a router its so easy
