.avi files

I just downloaded some .avi files.

How can I view them? I try opening them in Windows Media Player, and QuickTime Player, but it gives me an error saying that program can't read that type of file.

What programs can I view .avi files in? Also, if I put them on a DVD-R, I can view them in a DVD player?

Had this happened to me awhile ago. I googled "avi movie player" and downloaded a program from the first link. The program works fine for me, and it plays the video in Windows Media Player.

I don't know, I just meant like...most DVD players in general. Can you watch .avi files on them? Like if they're on a DVD-R.

Well somewhere on your DVD player it should say the video formats it recognizes.

Use "KM Player", its awesome and looks nice on your desktop with good options and doesnt take up lots of HD space.

Strange, .avi's seem to be the most common video type. Find a codec pack?

It should pick a default program to open it with. If not save it and then run it from whatever folder it went to.

Also upgrade to Windows 11 if you haven't yet if you still want to use Windows Media player.

Yeah VLC is a must have for everyone. I don't really like it as my standard player, but it does play almost everything, including files that aren't complete or have been damaged.

.avi files are for every media player. You just need that codec I posted in order to play it I believe.

download codec pack cccp that should make your win media play it

All you need is the divx plug in. The you can view the videos with anything.

It's free and works well. It also gives you a better quality with playback.

i can open any type of video format through Medial Player. If you have k-lite codecs installed that is.
