Because now supression does something. In real life, a sniper wont be aiming at you straight if he is being nicked and pinned by heavy machien gun fire.

They fixed lots of points that made certain aspects not enjoyable to many players.

Suppression was a gimmick in initial BF3, now it serves a purpose to spam 250 rounds downrange at an enemy sniper while your buddies go around to pick him off.
