What is Brawl Busters?
Brawl Busters was a free-to-play multiplayer action brawler developed by SkeinGlobe and published by Rock Hippo Productions. It launched around 2011 and shut down in 2013. The game featured fast-paced 3v3 and 4v4 matches where players picked from a roster of stylized characters, each with unique weapons and abilities. It had a mix of melee and ranged combat, a ranked mode, shops, capsules, daily missions, and a social hub with friend lists. Think of it as a cartoony, team-based brawler with a loyal fanbase that never really got a proper send-off.
Current Emulator Status
The emulator is written in C#. So far, the following systems are working:
- Singleplayer
- Multiplayer
- Shop
- Capsule system
- Ranked matches
I'm still actively developing it, and we have a Discord server where other developers are collaborating to finish the emulator.
Recent Updates
- Added the missing player's flag block for Ranked Matches
- Added support for password-protected rooms
- The server now sends the correct packet for "game cancelled" to players in a running match when the host closes the room
- Added the missing name available / taken packet
- Added missing Daily mission packets
- Added missing packets for friendlist – it should now function correctly
Repository
You can find the open source emulator here:
If you're an MMO developer, a reverse engineer, or just someone who wants to see Brawl Busters playable again, feel free to check it out, contribute, or join the Discord. Let's keep it alive.
