Both are Microsoft owned and not open-source. Don't jump on the failtrain and develop your games in frameworks that force you to run on windows. There are plenty of open-source engines that support even more features and are much more customizeable, but will take a little longer to learn/master. And they are platform independent or multiplatformed.

Actually any book will do so long you are devoted to learn programming,with any book you will expect those nonsense book like

dummies,21 days etc they are all crap

if someone is so dumb the dont learn programming
you cant learn programming 21 days not OOP Programming Families

In my opinion C# since it's a tad easier. But if you're serious
about game development you might want to learn c++ in the future
