Character creation error

hi i dont know if anyone asked this allready but when i log in cabal works fine but when i have to create character it keeps saying "unknown DB errors please try again" i am able to click on tables in linked server and i triplle checked everything with odbc and still cant find what is wrong i checked help sections here and cant find the answer plz help me ive got that far i wanna finish it xD. i also tried to change the linked server the way other people did and it worked for them but no luck im also using sql 2000 does that make any difference? ok im looking forward to your answer going to sleep

2000 is the version many people use so it won't be that. You need to check your various dbagent logs in /var/log/cabal for clues really but i will bet it is linked server settings somewhere. Make sure your connection string uses the windows ip and not localhost, that is just a guess though.

i checked the settings on linked server and its all correct i checked the one on your help aswell i have everything the way u said my ip is instead of local host and also i did the "workaround" as on the microsoft error page you gave me and still it dont want to work im totally lost man hey is there any way of u helping me on msn? id send u logs and everything if you need?

Check the sticky in this section on connection problems as it explains how to post clean logs. You will need to try creating a char rather than just logging in though.

ok sure thank you im trying at the moment with sql 2005 and with all your guides up to date making freshly databases and will see if i make it

i had the same error.. go to the linked server security and add a local user login ( give ur sa id and click on Impersonate). and pres Ok. and now try connecting the server..
