Connection Problem

Have been searching around, didnt find any answear.

Im using sql 2005 for database and dordort's CentOS files, and using Chumpy's server files.
I've put the connection ip to 192.168.16.25 (CentOs LAN ip) and Database ip to: 192.168.16.22 ( My LAN IP)
and using Saurons sync patch, and trying to connect to my server.. but it aint working..

it looks like your are having an issue with your account information being retrieved properly...

try making a new account and attempt to log in...

you will find that the cabal server is extremely tempermental and if configuration are not exactly correct, you will end up with connection issues..

Made a new account over Query anaylzer (used a query), Tried to logg in, still not working..
Even if im writting wrong id/pw, the "wrong user id" doesnt comes up..

Maybe my Account database is fucked up?

Delete account database and tried to restore it, getting this error (got it before).

you have to take the Sql server offline before you can delete a database

I did that then tried to restore and it worked properly with no errors..
Tried to logg in again with a new id and pw, but doesnt work..

stoped the server and deleted the logs and started it again.
Logged in, didnt work. So now i got some fresh logs for you guys..see (attachement)

Do I have to open ports 30000 - 40000 in the router so I can connect?

try setting your listen IP address (centOS) to its intenal IP address, NOT 127.0.0.1....
use Chumpys gen_config.sh file to set these addresses...

they try to login again..

you seem to be having the biggest issue with NAT (network Address Translation)

I ran /home/cabal/gen_config.sh
then started the server and tried to connect, the same problem. Have some new logs (see attachement).

It maybe has to do something with the ports?
It says in the logg "trying to listening to port 38111" (38111 just an example).
It's trying but cant maybe connect?

your last set of logs showed that the database had responded and forwarded the user information to the game server, but your client was not forwarded to the WorldSvr service

which means there is an error in translation somewhere..

you are using chumpy's server 2.5 repack?

the gen_config.sh file sets everything up. i suppose you could try the following command in the CentOS terminal...

"service iptables stop" without the quotes


then try to login again...

That file doesn't even exist in my repack. The reason i originally started on my repack was because gen_config.sh was horribly broken, run it on clean files it would break them and run it on working files it would break them.

I can see lots of "ace assert" errors which means the ini files have been converted from unix format to dos (windows) as the two have different text file formats. Another reason for my cabal_config.sh as it does all of the necessary edits for you to prevent this happening.

The chatnode config is so broken it can't even read far enough to see what's wrong!

IDC is off in the loginsvr.ini and i know this causes problems. It defaults to On in my files.

Start again i think. Download my 2.5 repack from my sig and follow the miniguide that comes with it. You can probably get away with telling the install script you are upgrading but best to play safe and say No when asked that.

Once installed run the "cabal_config" command and let it set everything up for you. After than you can fiddle and if you break it you can run cabal_config again to get the default config back.

So now I've downloaded chumpy repack v2.5, followed the mini guide, installed everything that has to be installed, ran cabal_config.sh, put my settings.
and still cant connect.

Does it matter which launcher im using?
like CabalMain,Start-Cabal,StartCabal(dos command)

At the moment everything is running in lan-only mode so the router doesn't need touching yet. This mode is the best way to test a new server.

You should always use the batch file to launch or connection will fail as the batch file is what tells the client to use internal.txt for the ip instead of language.enc. At least one connection was seen so something got through.

Try a few more login attempts and post the logs in case something new turns up. The log didn't have either an Ok or a rejection for the login attempt it just closed the connection as if it just didn't like it. What client and patch do you use?

I'm also assuming the attempt timed out rather than crashing or displaying messages.

That's what i thought i would find. You probably zipped the logs before the error was saved before.

Always use your "sa" login for the server as it prevents any weird permissions problems.

If using sql 2000 check the windows firewall isn't blocking connections. If using 2005 then you probably have the classic "installed it wrong" problem as a default install on 2005 express won't work. Either reinstall following my guide at
