I have been making modz for this game for a while now, and am working on a completly custom build. It will have alot of content not availible in the real game. Lots more quests. New pets. Much more item sets, and new equipment. New mobs and new spawn locations. A realistic level climb from 1-75+ (if I can ever remove the level cap). More skills (like the C2 ones). Even the ability to switch classes and learn a new set of skills (multi-classing). I think this game has so much untaped potential, but this game should not suffer an untimely death becouse its manufaturer does not want to develop it's potential.

I would like to put in a bunch of the C2 environments, but the limitating factor is I do not know how to edit terain yet. If some one could point me in the right direction, I will be happy to help boots the collective knowledge of this community. I would like to see the private servers pass the public servers development level. Maybee even have a new palyible race before they get around to it. I am a strong belever of keeping to the story line though. I would like to include alot more of the back story in the game.

If any one is interested in our server development, or has any resource information that could benifit us or this community, please feel free to share it with us.

cause anyone can say that they made it, prove it.
for the maps... i cant really help ya, since its a loadingfree game, the maps may be connected together, so if you replace all maps from c1 with c2 and load all the extra c2 maps, it may also load the auto-warps.
well, its just a guess, i never tested it out.
hope you can create a good c2 a like mod.

Right now I am still barried in code changes. I will be more that happy to keep people up-to-date with my progress.

Terrain editing is easy, I can help you out with all you need to know.

Lineage II is based on the Unreal Engine.

I developed for UT/UT2k3/4 for the longest time, so I know how to terrain edit.

If you have the tools I'd be glad to make some terrain :D

The map file formats are .unr but I don't know if they have any encryption.

I have never tried to open them up in UED3.

I can also point you to tons of Tutorials on making terrain etc

I am not sure if they are encrypted, but if they are they would use known encryption that can be removed with the tool.

I know they use Unreal for L2, but there are alot of Unreal Editors out there and I am not sure what version of Unreal is used for L2.

I will post more on that as I get more spacific information.

texture format seems to be changed from original (tried to open fonts), but editor still recognizes it's names (inside utx)
You can check if file encrypted, by opening it with notepad... there should be "Lineage2" and version string for encrypted files
The main problem is ai.obj scripting... need functions mans...

I have been trying for weeks to get models/mesh extracted from the game. But I dont htink it is possible. I use UTPT to extract textures fine. and sounds fine. But i cannot get the model/mesh out. I would love to model me some new monsters/weapons/buildings in 3dsmax and put them into the game and link them on the server. Cracking the Model/mesh problem would allow us to do anything with this game. Cant get anything open with any UnrealED version or even the basic editor versions. All the licenses of UTEngine use ther own special format for there files. So they cant work with other editors that are shipped with games. check out UTPT (unreal tourne pakage tool). It supports Lin2 and lets you check out alot of file info and extract things. mayby the creator of UTPT is adding model/mesh support soon but who knows :/

I have trolled his site, and he said he is working on it. He also said that it is not a priority for him becouse he does not have a copy of the game. At leased there is some hope.

check out this program called WOTgreal. I belive it alows you to modify packages for most unreal engine games. I cant figure it out tho. there is a way to specify the ini files for the game you want to work with but not sure if it works with l2's

WOTgreal does work with l2 as far as exporting textures and the packages compiling them I haven't even bothered.

I was never able to get WOTgreal to work with L2 files.

I will give it a second try later this week.

Any pointers on using this ap with L2 files?

Some texture data can be viewed by decrypting the text files of the client. armourgrp.txt has info about what textures/meshs are used.

Update!!

I now included my chat info in my profile for those who want it.

We have successfully incorperated all the C2 resipies and items into our server.

C2 mobs are ready, but we are missing AI for them.

What we have decided to do is create unique mob AIs for our server.

Since allmost every AI is diferent in C2, we decided it will also let us make our
sever special. It will be like learning to play all over again.

Of couse this means our official rollout will be delayed, but it will be worth it.

And all the C2 textures and mods will be built into our distributed client.

I cant wait to see it in action!!

I'll belive if i see, for now it's all talk for me. Besides, recipes and scripts for c2 can be found over the internet. The only problem is implementing them within the server. The other thing is client-server communication. How do You want to handle that without even knowing the basics that You are asking for in this thread ?

For those who doubt my integrity, you can make your own damn changes!!

For those who want to help the forum's knowlegebase to grow and expand, your comments are welcome.

I have almost completed everything I need for my documentation of L2. With the raw data I have processed, I can create and modify almost anything that is script bsed in the game.

I am working an a completely new AI, Spawn Map, Quests, Items, Equipment & Mobs. I am using c2 textures and animations placed into the original C1 client. Yes I can summon all the new creatures. Since no one has access to C2 AI, we decided to make all new AI for our server to make it truly unique.

I share my files with those who help.

When we are close to completion of our server, I will post a few pix. For now I am consintraiting on recreating years worth of development in a few short months.

If you do not have anything positive to add to this thread, then DONT! It was created to keep people informed of my progress on my project, and nothing more.

btw, I do belive the new areas can be added into the C1 server and client. It will be a while before I get to work on the new areas though...
