Custom WoW World?

Anyone thought "hey screw Blizzlike - Im doing my own thing!" and decide to populate their server with their custom mobs, items, quests and such from scratch? I am considering doing this - anyone else attempted or have adivice?

well costum stuff exists... but i dont think that someone would go in such maddness and make EVERYTHING costum...
IMO it would take tooooooooooo much time...

advice? id say: dont do it... but it will be your decision

Sure, why not? To make truly custom mobs, you'd have to edit the client-side files, though. And there are probably limits to how much you can screw with the game mechanics... (Well, you weren't expecting to make WoW into a FPS, now were you?)

A few people have come close to doing this, but as far as I know no one has ever completely redone the world. To do so would be impossible for 1 person I think, you would need a team of at least 5 people working for some time.

Of course you wouldn't be able to edit client side things
