Compiling and computing nowadays rely on jobs, jobs a.k.a CPU threads. Hence a dual core i3/i5/i7 all have 4 threads (2 physical and 2 logical processors). The more cores of the above type of CPU you get you can double the jobs a.k.a threads. So for a quad core i5/i7 you will get 8 threads which is really good for compiling, if you want even more, get a desktop cpu with 8 cores which translates to 16 threads.
As the new Dell Inspiron 15 5000/7000 have only just been refreshed, I think it would be worth while holding off buying one - Unless you are in dire need of a laptop! Wait for reviews to come in and then make an informed decision, tbh the 15 7000 series would be the best bet for gaming, especially the high end QC i7 and 960m, the screen choice is yours do you want a 1920x1080 or a 4k screen. Entirely your choice.
I've got a Dell 17 7000 laptop, full speced out and it runs nicely, it's a dual core which is alright but a Quad Core would have been nicer, in terms of would I upgrade to the 15 7000, probably not. It looks like it's just made out of plastic or really cheaply made, if you want the high end Dell products XPS would be the range to look at.
I am not looking for gaming laptop, I want it primary for work, for gaming I have desktop: Until now I had only 17" laptops, but now I want to go for 15,6" because of longer battery life, but I am still not sure about it, if 17" won't be better even with lower battery life.
Btw, on that video isn't older version of Inspiron 15 7000? Because on official DELL site is Inspiron 15 7000 without numeric keyboard and it also looks different.
Yes, I like the 13" XPS, but it's too small for me and also it's very expensive, I don't want to spent more than 1100 - 1300 euro for it.

Is the latest from the 15 7000 series, could be that it hasn't rolled out to your country yet?
What work do you do?
Yes, I just opened video on YT and i saw date. Well, it looks really good, much better than the current one.
I checked it on US site (dell.com) and there are only the older versions of 7000, not this one.
Programming, graphics, web development, game servers, etc. So basically I need powerful CPU, enough system memory and some dedicated graphics card (2GB would be enough).
the 4K screen would definitely be a bonus for you then, I would go for the maxed out version just so you have the availability there.
weird how it's not on every dell site, i dunno maybe check again in a week or so?
My boss just got a new laptop from PC specialist. Was around £500 chapter than the closest one I could find to it on dell. You can spec it out yourself almost fully so you don't end up with shortfalls like you'd get on most off the shelf ones. Not sure what the build quality is like yet as he has yet to receive it, but the reviews seem decent enough.
