Demonoid Aftermath

I buy the music if i really like it. Mind you though that there isn't that much that i really like, most gets pretty boring in no time.

Amen Brother! I have respect for that guy and I completely agree. The music industry these days are full of ****. They do not promote anything but these young "Pop" artists who, at least perceivably, are beautiful to the public eye yet lack necessary talent to produce an album worth while listening to let alone buying.

Does it make you buy music?

Listening to the radio, does it make you want to buy music? I see downloading as the same thing. I can listen to the radio for free, and hell request the songs that I want. Why can't I just skip the middle man?

Should just release good quality tracks online with an ad before you can download it.

Really most pop bands nowadays can't sing anyway. It's all edited on huge recording studio PCs till it sounds right. Really buying music is paying for a karaoke singer who has been warped to sound good. Making the karaoke singer WAY too much money in the process. I bet 70% of them lip sink for concerts anyway.

What have they really done to deserve the money? The entire money system is fundamentally flawed. It rewards people who look good and have some nature talent to entertain while people who really work and study hard to progress the human race get next to nothing. When was the last time noble prize winners were publicised as much as say paris hilton? Who really deserve the publicity?

But I'm going off on a tangent. If I couldn't download music I'd listen to the radio, and I think everyone here would be the same. Torrents just open the word up for more different bands. I bet statistically speaking most bands in the world are pro-p2p because it means they can get their music out to the world. Do you play music for the money or the enjoyment? I wonder how many artists are really against it or if it is all down to the record agencies not making as much profit off them.

If I had my way TV license would become media licenses and you could download anything you wanted from the internet. Most TV stations have started releasing their programs online, why haven't record companies followed suit? Instead of working against online sites work with them to make it free but with advertising.

I most likely buy music if i had money, if i had a millions of dollars, hell, Torrent or Warez is not my interest anymore.

This brings up a whole new debate. Why should you have something that you can't pay for?

You've brought up some very interesting points. P2P can be seen as a mean of advertising and as you said it brings music to the people, cheaply and easily. The only problem it comes down to that people download the music, make the CD and stick it in the car while driving - this causes people not listening to the radio anymore because they can mix their own music. Wouldn't you consider that a loss of advertising?
I'm playing devil's advocate, I see what your saying and I agree.

Media licenses? A one time fee for all the media I wanted?

Anyone think they'll actually read it? Something tells me it'll either remained unopened or be thrown straight in the bin

BTW Most artists make next to nothing from album sales, since they'd still be paying off a million pound record contract way into the release of a third album

Also most bands make their money from concerts and what is a better promotion to a concert than a free sample of their music acquired from your own home?

Radio stations pay to play music and get money from ads. Why not stick the ads into while you download (it's not like you're doing anything better while waiting)
Personally I don't think ads really work for me. More often I find an advert really annoying and decided not to buy it. I refuse to buy anything from a TV advert that has been dubbed into english. How much can it possibly cost extra to shoot 2, you already have the set actors manpower etc. Just hire actors that can speak in all the languages you want to film in and you're set.

Media licenses would be yearly, basically what the BBC does. Instead of adverts we pay for a TV licence, I think extending that might be a good idea.

I hope the music industry does die, because I know that music itself will not die so with the corrupt aspects of the industry gone, only then might music once again flourish.

Excellent quote.

How can downloading music be copyright infraction? We aren't claiming the music to be ours anyway are we?

Not always true, you have no idea of the cost of concerts, its very rare the artist ever benefits from anything music related. It's when they endorse something that they get money
