For those who are interested and don't go to the HW/SW section much I just wrote a rather long article of the insides of the old PS2.

I took my old one a part, took some pictures and explain what I saw and found. I think it's interesting at least. O.O

Give it a look.

Great, <3 your detailed screenies.
I already dismantle my PS.
But my ps2, its only 2years old, and still serving me.

Excellent Job, No-Peace. I love the detailed steps and the pictures giving us something visual as well. The thing thats making me curious is, Can you put it back again?

I tried it with my original Xbox a year ago. I was successful in dissecting it but I couldn't put it back together. I found a guide on how to get it apart but never found a guide on how to put it together.

If I am able to find a good guide then I might do it with my PSP.

Wow, that's a capacitor

Right? Man it's fat.

Few years ago I was walking to work and saw a PS1 in the snow. It was broken (of course). Was very odd as there was nothing nearby. Someone must've thrown it out the window of their car.

Yeah that's a cap. Though there are bigger ones in full size PSUs and TVs. =P

And just think. That cap can easily kill you if you accidentally puncture it with a screw driver. O.O

I am one of the lucky ones that has had none of my systems break on me.

Oh and did you know that every Dreamcast was made with a potato chip inside?

This was the first system that died on me. My Atari 2600 still works (though my grand mother broke the plug), my NES and Genesis worked until my mother gave them away, my SNES, PS1, N64, DreamCast, XBox, and GameCube are still plugged in and working. Also my GameBoy pocket and color still works. Quite funny is that the DC worked after I split a pot of ramen on it. O.O
