Wow I just found out the other day that Dreamcast just stopped making games in 07 or 08.
Its graphics were super nice for its time, I'd compare some games to GameCube and some games even
better.
Why didn't they just make a new Dreamcast though?
I was too young to understand DreamCast tech when it was popular.
It had just as good as graphics to Ps2 games as well.
o.o

they are released in japan if i'm right. there were really good along with better online abilities. And they stooped making games about a year ago.

my dreamcast was an upgrade from the genesis. I didn't play it because I thought "wow the video looks really complicated"

that was when I was little, I didn't play it because the graphics were godly compared to the genesis.]

shame sega already said they aren't planning on any new consoles. They'd rather make games for all consoles than to get their own out there to compete with the rest.

While there have been a few titles over the years, they pretty much stopped making them in like 2004 or something.

Even though the Dreamcast was a great machine, the problem was that people were still playing on their Saturn, they didn't want a new console yet, so in a sense it was rejected.
After they gave up on the DC they didn't make a new one because they simply didn't have the money, to develop and advertise a console costs shitloads, with the risk of failing again it just wasn't something they could afford.

Right now it would be very hard to get back on the market, we have 3 such solid systems that it's hard to imagine seeing a 4th succeed.

Plus, piracy killed the Dreamcast, as it had no pirate-protection measures. It was before it's time, which made it fail.... Plus, the announcement of the PS2 and the type of hype that sony had pretty much gave it no chance. It was a great console nevertheles, I still have mine (doesn't work) sitting there in my room.

I kinda wanted a Dreamcast at one point but I never got one. My first console after a Sega was a PSX (Golden years lol) then to Gamecube. There was Gameboy in between Sega and PSX but that may not be considerd a console game but rather a hand-held one... w/e
I think all the games I played on it at friends in its later years were fun. Phantasy Star I & II started on it so props for that =)

PSO!
Me and friends still play it like a religion. Well to the Gc and Pc

Not true, the first series required a boot disc (i got 1 of those) later series needed a hard mod.
What you are thinking off is that later games were released with the boot disc already in it, but this only goes for a part of the games, and it happened after it already failed.

All in all, piracy or no piracy, the console was killed due to bad sales and very few (quality) games.

I always loved the DC, but they just messed up big time with it, it's a real shame, i always liked Sega more then the other console makers, they actually got innovative ideas, they came with motion controllers long before Nintendo did.
