The 2nd annual Earth Hour
Sponsored by W.W.F

when : March 28,2009 8:30 Local Time

why: to raise the awareness of climate change and to show much of an impact can be made when we work together.

how: just turn your lights off for 1 hour to show that you support the need for climate change.
Major cities such as Chicago and New York have already signed up. In chicago they will dim the sears tower and the Navy Pier and dim most of their businesses. In New York they will dim the Empire state building in support of the cause. 82 countries have signed up for the event along with several tv shows from holywood. So swing by the earth hour website for more info.

people shouldnt be turning their lights off for an hour and kidding themselves they are saving the world. they need lifestyle changes, anyone can turn off some appliances for an hour. How about living without power sucking non essentials, or at least cutting down for good?

I only have my lights on at night.
And my sky box turns it self to stand-by automaticly.
And anything I'm not using is off.

So, I'm doing my bit already.

But turning your lights off for an hour, isnt gunna do anythng.

Is this the thing that Google encouraged people to do last year?
To bad I didn't get a chance to do it.

If everyone powered on their house all at once would that use up major energy?
Or would it be the same as every house already powered on?

i think its not about the exact thing of turning lights off for an hour... thats more like a symbol to make people conserve energy anytime.

Fuck that's the most useless thing ever. I'll just leave my stuff turned off when I'm in college, out with my friends or asleep, I'm sure that helps more than just turning it off an hour just to feel like I'm helping the world out when in reality it's not making a bit of a difference...

lol ill have everything off but my comp
1hour is not much time
if they did this everyday for everyone around the US
then the lifestyle should change little by little this way makes it to SLOW

if you really want ppl to take earth day seriously, switch over from coal power to wind, water, and solar power. Make me a panel for moonlight as well, and make each of them more cost effective than coal. I'll use em. :D

Gotta agree with this, instead of just an hour why not a lifetime? After this hour is up we'll return to our ignorant energy-consuming ways. Still, it's at least some way of getting people to do their bit.

I'll support Earth Hour!
Save the world from climate change!
 I'm doing this! ^^

Let's support 60 minutes turn off your light Earth Hour!
