Half tutorial, half is me guessing. I just installed photoshop cs4 about 4 hours ago or so and just made this. I think i only used some basic stuff and abstract brushes you cant see. I don't think that's samus too, I'm not sure.

off topic kinda: yeah, but there is one difference between him and some that started, being that some that started had crap to start with... I mean that there where not as many good gfx sites and such... but yeah, pretty awesome first tag, and to those about flow, quite talking about that shit, its not the most important thing in a tag...

only thing I would like to say is add a lightsource and some more colours I think, cuzz its somewhat monotome, also make the dark a little lighter, cuzz to much negative is bad... and kill text, but pretty good text for a first anyways... you can make it a little lighter by adding a lighter blackish colour on a new layer with the bucket tool and then set it to lighten... or you can apply image then do the following>image>layer Adjustments>exposure, then put them all a little to the right... hope that helps you a little...for colour editing, add gradient maps, selective colour adjustments or hue/saturate...

if you need any more help... just let me or some advanced gfx-er know... maybe they or I can be off help... but gj for a first tag, kiu

Thanks for the tips. I tried your lighting techniques and it just turns the black grayish, and the sig looked weird.

also, thanks for the feedback. ill try and make another signature soon.

i just did the most basic things you can ever do, for the color, i motion blurred a layer with the render pasted everywhere, and then gaussian blurred it. :x

ehmm yeah, lower the opasity on that layer then, the way I meant it to be was that it would be less black like a little, not to much though, check my sigs to see what I mean, I almost never have a real black colour in my bg's and such... but wil make a tut again I gues... although would be my second tut only ever.... gonne make a sprite one... not sure if my basic tut is still on here, that might help a little...
also some others have tuts on the forum as wel, that might help you... but keep trying stuff out and you wil get there I am sure...
