I have been reading posts recently and found that most new users are having a problem PINGING their centos to their ip and from their ip to centos... so here i post something that can help a little bit for some

got to your firewall settings for XP users thats start>control panel>security center scroll a little bit down then firewall

most users doesn't know this but even if firewall is TURNED OFF it is still ON for the network connections. so that's reason why centos can't PING your winXP and vise versa.. to turn that off.

click firewall>then advance TAB> at network connection settings look for your LOCAL AREA CONNECTION click it then press SETTINGS.

now go to ICMP tab (that is at top left for those with sight problems..) CHECK ALL THOSE BOXES from allow incoming echo up to allow redirect.. press OK.. and viola problem solve try PINGING your centos IP now and from centos to your LAN ip. that's all hehehehhe
