My new pc came in yesterday,
So i decided to test it with some games,
Everything ran fine,
Graw,css,etc
But as i've noticed, when I play fear everything's fine, but after a short while in-game the framerate drops drasticly.
So i've downloaded fraps, checked the normal framerate (was about 100 to 300) and the framerate after the drop (20 constant :S)
It seems that more people with 8800's have this problem

My pc specs:
Intel core 2 duo E6600
Asus striker extreme
4gb ddr2 800 mhz ram
xfx 8800gts 640mb xXx
spire 650w psu
2x 250gb hdd sataII

OS:Windows vista business 64 bit

Any ideas on how to fix this?
I've downloaded the latest for everything.

Yea I returned my 8800 because it just drops the framerate randomly...

Not sure why it does it but its hella annoying.

Just installed xp,
Installing drivers and everything now,
Hoping for the best :P

That should work for ya there bud.. anythign 64 bit is great for fast processors in certain applications, but it still has alot of issues with anythign related to 32 bit or games in general.

*mutters* If only stupid Microsoft had realized this back when they had the decision to code in 32 or 64 bit, and chose 64.. then we wouldnt have any of these problems ;)

Maybe if we send them enough problems they can get better drivers or change the card a little bit........

Got 5,000 people willing to complain?

5,000 is nothing.. you woudl need millions to enact a change liek that ;)

Its not the card, its not anything hardware wise on how its built.. its straight Vista, yes it is a good OS, for beign as new as it is... the problem is that they rushed it out too damn fast and didnt do enough testing, I 'personally' think they should have tested it out another full year and released it on Christmas '08 and done it the right way.

Until its more developed and more and more games are being created, there is nothign we, as a community, can do.. minus sitting on our arses with ultra powered graphcis cards waiting ;)

Umm... Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Longhorn/Vista designed for 64-bit originally and then ported over to 32-bit?

And anyways. Vista 64-bit isn't like XP 64-bit. Software compatibility is virtually the same between 32-bit and 64-bit. The only issues that 64-bit has is driver support.

If it's Vista then why does my copy of it have no problems at all like that?

And look at his post. Its only happening in FEAR. Well with the most recent beta drives from nVidia and the most recent patch for FEAR caused me no problems at all.

He should have really done more effort in trying patches and drivers. That's where the problem is from. Not Vista.

All games run like **** on Vista if you don't have the right patches and drivers.

NoPeace - out
