This is a really good game, it's a space simulator game, it's made by Microsoft, it plays really good, there are lots of ships, the universe you play in is huge, and then i really mean huge, if you want to fly through all the system at the highest speed without using jumpgates and all (you can travel with them way faster) then it would take you about 6 hours, to see everything in the game it would take you weeks.
So it's really huge, full with planets, stations and all sorts of stuff like places full with rocks (flying fast there isn't wise) or with anomalies where you have a very short scanning range and all, there are many different groups of people, each has their enemies, neutral people and friendly people, if you come in a battle for example with a enemy and a friendly person is in range then they come to help and all.
There are all sorts of ships, you got light fighters which are hard to hit but they dont have really strong weapons and shields, there are heavy fighters which ofcourse are easier to hit but have more and stronger weapons and shields, and then there are very heavy fighters, i bet you already know what i will say now so i won't, and then there are freighters, each ship has a amount of cargo place, and freighters ofcourse has lots of it, they are a easy target, however if you can get it to a other place safe then you can sell the goods that you bought somewhere else for much more (ofcourse every planet and station pays a different price)
You can also do mission where you have to destroy bases, or you have to destroy 1 certain person, or capture a person, or just destroy a couple of ships and all, and this will help you gain levels which will allow you to buy better ships and weapons.
In the single player there is a storyline, but you can also ignore that and play how you want, however that would be boring, if you want to go that way then do it online, you can online start a character on any server (you cant move your character from server btw) and you can do that there, servers often also have mods running like clans having their own special ships (same stats as others however they look different which they made themselfs) and extra spaces like special warzones where people can fight each other.
People can cheat on those servers, however if you get a good one then they do get monitored and they can't do much then before getting banned, often the server already detects cheats (mods) already without help.
So it's a really nice game, both the single and multiplayer is good, it looks good, it's not heavy on your PC, i have no trouble running it on 1024x786 with a Amd Athlon 1 gig and a Geforce 2 MX400 64mb and all, and it really plays nice, it works simple however it isn't easy, well ofcourse that depends how far you go into space (the further you got the harder the enemy groups get)
