x10 is pretty good. even if the server is sometimes unstable, you can have up to 3 db and up to 3.5gb of space. haha.

Well godaddy sucks. I absolutely hate it.. (yet I have to work with it on occasion for clients..) Your need a host for your boss, and it has to be free. Most hosts that are highly talked about and recommended by experts are paid hosts. Usually less expensive then others that might offer a free package. Godaddy.com is the opposite of user-friendly. I can't get around in that site for anything I need, including the SQL database center. I could hardly even find the FAQs without getting harassed to upgrade this, that, and everything!

So GoDaddy is out.

I would really suggest getting a paid host.. Erm.. Try hostgator.com.

I use 1and1.com, and they get the job done and all, but they suck. I can find my way around the site pretty well now, but there's always something wierd coming up with 1and1... Technical support is a joke.. and database rules are pretty strictly enforced. Not to mention all the scary terms of service around every corner dealing with a 3rd party.. (ex. Joomla, PostNuke, PHPBB Forum)

they turn these open source projects into CRAP with capitol C R A P, when they could be much better downloaded from the origonal site. (with hardly any terms at all) All the added stylesheets you get with phpBB; You don't get them in the 1and1 version of it.

Second thought, forget a host. Get a good computer for a server. Something I can't afford.

GoDaddy is absolute failure.

I still use 000webhost, you need to login to their cPanel and it works again.

You were in no way "turned on". It's a simple fact of life that 99% of the time, you get what you paid for. You don't pay, they have no obligation to keep your service active, stable or secure.

What hosts do you guys use, if you were a php programmer with little mysql knowledge..?

Your asking for the same problem again, you will wake one day to find your site gone again.

My boss also offered me a host, but i don't know the nameservers and nither does he, since its a vps package

Login into WHM, assuming he has one and go to basic settings, if my memory serves me correct, it should say there.

If you want to run a site, pay for it. I use free hosting packs only for large files I can't / do not want to have on my normal site.

My site hasn't been down for a second apart from me screwing it up sometimes :P

XAMPP for newbs, Plesk for pro, Apache and MySQL for Intermediate.

Imma move up from XAMPP but I don't have my htdocs and stuff backed up yet.
