Hey, I'm having some troubles with my website appearing offline. I talked to my host and they told me there were no problems and that it was client-side for me. I can goto any site on the internet except mine. I know that this problem is obviously server-side, but I have no control over my server since I made the choice to pay for hosting.

The reason I'm posting this is because I want to know if my site is broken for the entire world.

Please visit this link(www.AVsBest.com) and tell me if it works or not.

I'm using 1and1 for hosting. (http://www.1and1.com)

Again, my host told me that there are no problems with my site, and that it works perfectly. Until I have other reports of the site not working, I have no ammo to get support from my host. Please just help me out here..

Edit: These are things I tried:

  • I tried 3 browsers (IE, Firefox, and Safari)
  • I deleted my Cache, Temp. Internet Files, and cookies.
  • Flushed DNS
  • Restarted my Computer
  • Tried using programs to access FTP (cannot connect)

Well, the PHP scripts won't work because it's server-side, the browser would simply cache a previously created HTML page and save that...it cannot NOT work, if you get what I mean. It just won't update the PHP parts, because you need the server for that.

Well the fact of the matter is, I get a "Failed to open page" error. You know, the error you get when a site doesn't exist. A similar thing would happen if I went to http://www.asdfhdskjfhkdjfhduifhdsjkf.com
lol.. So you're saying that it's impossible that it isn't working for me on both of my computers and on all browsers?

But it isn't working nether-the-less..?

I'm really confused.. I don't understand this server stuff.. How could PHP have anything to do with this error?

The same problem occurs with my other domains under this hosting policy:
http://www.doyouseeghosts.com/
http://www.wine.avsbest.com/
http://www.games.avsbest.com/
http://www.avs-best.com/

Yet, our email addresses work perfectly. [email protected] can send emails from my server.. I'm super confused now if it actually works for anyone..

Edit:
Works for me
Super confused..

I found out that the ajfkldsafjdsaklfsda.com thing is way different. When I try to get to my server, it says it cannot connect to server. When I try to goto the non-existing server, it tells me that it could not find the server. Two totally different things. So just like my FTP program, my browsers cannot connect to my server. Which means, it's there, but it's some kind of connection error.... And you guys can visit my site like a breeze and browse around and all that? Alright well that's a relief.. Hopefully I can figure this out.. I guess my host was right and it is client-side.. Maybe that girl I talked to last night was lieing.. I dunno

Typical fix: Turned off my computer, my router, and my DSL box.. Turned everything back on and it worked :/....

It's so weird that only my site was unable to connect.... I really don't understand this whole internet thing.. lol.. Not as much as I thought I did at least..

Thanks guys, I would have just gotten mad at my host if it weren't for you! lol..
