Ok, Well after reading a bunch of posts.
I've become so confused on what i'm actually listening to & what im not.

If anybody could please explain to me what genres these following bands are

(and please, don't flame me because of my choice of music. I'm not going to call you a fucking pussy for listening to Justin Timberlake, it's your choice. So don't do it to me)

  • Bullet for my valentine
  • Atreyu
  • Ill nino
  • Slipknot (So Confused about these guys.. lol apparently, they're not even metal?)
  • Killswitch Engage
  • & Evanescence

**Sorry for the double post, I don't even know how that happened**

Bullet for my valentine - Emo, or goth-ish alternative metalcore with male vocals.
Slipknot - Mallcore, a somewhat miserable subgenre of metalcore
Killswitch Engage - Same as Slipknot
Evanescence - A rather goth-ish pop

Never heard of the other two, but I suppose they not of the metal scene, from the track-and-a-half I've heard, they both are metalcore oriented.

Your musical taste obviously concentrates on punk and hardcore.

Have great time at ragezone=]

i see no punk there O.o

The hell are all of these bullshit made-up genres? God damn it's so annoying.

thoes still aint punk... punk is like fallout boy and good charlotte ect...

Hardcore is a genre which deprives from punk, kiddo

These genres are made so people can define a band better, genres are not defined by me, if you don't like it, dear Moderator, you can stop using them, especially if it annoys you, because no one screws around with Moderators, they are tough =]

I have been in the non-mainstream scene for more than 5 years now, I assure you I know what I am talking about.

deprives from punk?

i may not be as "educated" as you claim to be when it comes to music, but i know the difference between punk and hardcore. yes hardcore comes mainly from punk, but is it punk? no. the sounds are very different. metal came from rock, so does that make metal music rock? no.

perhaps you should think a little more before acting smart next time "kiddo".

btw who are you referring to when you say "moderator"? dacheat hasn't posted here O.o

Switch hardcore with hardcore punk.

You can confuse it with:

Hardcore hip hop
Hardcore Emo
Hardcore Metal
Hardcore ele dance music

You can associate hardcore with about every genre lolz.

Are you serious? Those bands are NOT punk and have NO elements of punk whatsoever. They are pop-rock bands that are so mainstream it makes me sick.

Punk is bands like:

The Clash
Ramones
Sex Pistols
The Nuns
Dead Kennedys
Madness

i really hate HIM.
and "Panic! at the disco" -_-. If you guys get the rolling stones mag they're on the cover this month (or whatever month they're on :p) and only two of the members dress without eye-liner and don't look gay.

I do believe the one's that do fall into the category of heavy metal would be slipknot (I think their second album is the hardest compared to their first and last) and killswitch. I believe there are too many genres of metal bands, but I also believe there's a huge difference between black/thrash/heavy/and melodic death.

Once again as I have repeated so many times before. Slipknot is NOT heavy metal and don't fall under any sub-genre of metal. They are part of the new movement of numetal and metalcore. Stop labeling this band as metal. It is WRONG. Just because they play heavy overtones doesn't make them metal. Their style of music isn't heavy metal and will never be considered heavy metal. I have already proved this in another thread and I will continue to correct those who label false bands like Slipknot as heavy metal. Feel free to try and prove me wrong in your classification and reasoning behind labeling them as a heavy metal band or sub-genre of heavy metal. Once again, this band and others like it, belong under the numetal and metalcore genre that is starting to emerge.

then tell me iron....what do you classify as heavy metal? thanks for correcting me I mean it's not like I would really care if someone told me they were or weren't man.
