Guide is good...
But I just wanna ask why aren't you putting anything on the Server field??
It should have atleast (localhost)...
Or the SQL connection...
SQL connection should be like (Computer Name\SQLEXPRESS)...

Example:
"SKYE\SQLEXPRESS" (Without the quotes)
Or else you will not be connected to the SQL...
Lol...
If you test it...
"TEST FAILLED"
You cannot connect to the SQL server...

All in all guide is good except for the mistake there...
Good job...

Anyway nice guide tho...
I also made a guide for SQL & ODBC before...
But since its so old...
It's time to make a new one...

@sir abry : for the finishing of the guide with screen shot.

1. put the database name...
2. put the sql sever name...
3. click next...

4. click the "with SQL server authentication using a login ID and password entered by a user"...
5. put the login id: and password:...
6.click next...

7.check the "chanhe the default databas to:"...
8. choose the " RanGame1"...
9. click next....

10. click finish...

11. after clicking finish another window will popup for the test connection.
click "test data source"...

12. now for the final procedure just click the ok then your done...

in other database(RanLog, RanShop, RanUser)... same procedure...

why connection failed :

after i follow this guide
it gives an error

it works perfectly! thanks! im using windows 7 sp1 :)

here's the hint to get the "Data Sources"

1. click "Start"
2. Search "Data Sources" on "Search program and files"
3. right click and "run as administrator"
4. then here you go :)

here's my TEST

Running connectivity tests...

Attempting connection
Connection established
Verifying option settings
Disconnecting from server

TESTS COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY!
