right, the problem is.... when i download any mpg file that i then play the sound and video do not play in sync.

i have the video playing anything from a few seconds behind the sound to a whole mintue behind which makes watching any videos absolutly shit.

i have normally download them through kazza and if i play them before they have finished downloading the sound and video will play at the same rate so it will be normal but as soon as the downlooad completes they play out of sync.

i play them in wmp 9 and divx and kazza's video player and weith all of them its exactly the same.

if anyone could tell me what the problem is i would be very happy indeed. i just downloaded 4 cky films and they all play out of sync so they are shit.

i have windows xp and it didnt allways do this with mpgs so i dont know what the problem is, and i assume that it's fixable.

any help any of you can give i would be very greatful.

Sounds to me like you need to download some codecs.

Do you get the same thing if you play it in another player, for example RealPlayer?

i get that occasionally with files that play somethin like 1000kb/s lol the computer cant handle the file so it lags a lil.. well thats the reason why it does it for me, dunno about you though

You need more RAM or just close all other programs running

Yup, could just be a RAM issue - I doubted that though since he said they used to work fine once over.

when i had this prob i tried the divx codec and mp4 codec both the same happened till i baught some new ram

or go to start>run>msconfig>startup tab

then turn off all the shit u dont need that will free up ur process'

i'm almost certain its not ram as it didnt always happen and nothing has changed, it also happens on tiny 1meg files which i definatly have enough spare ram for atm i have 512MBs ram which i know is enough for my needs. also i have my pc starting up in 32secs cos i optimized it so much by removing everything i dont need so i know its running fine.

i do have most codecs i know of and i dont know where i could get the ones i need cos i thought that the video just wouldnt play if i didnt have the codecs and as i said it will play fine if the download hasnt finished and i play it in kazza but if i play the finished download in ANY player it wont play properly. but if there is any codecs you can recomend please do.

i have the ace mega pack of codecs its called summit like that and i dont know what else i need.

When video files get recorded frames can get lost, it's a normal thing when it's getting recorded on a computer that isn't fast enough, it happened to my brother a lot (he has been recording video stuff for like 5 years now)
When frames get lost you will see the video before the sound, if 100 secs normally has 2500 frames, but it looses 1 frame every second, then you will only have 2400 frames, 100 less then before, over a whole video the video part will take less time, yet the sound still takes just aslong, in my example you would have 99 seconds video, and 100 seconds sound, which causes desync.

This doesn't mean that is the case with every video file that desyncs, but it happens a lot, certainly with older material as the computers weren't as powerfull as they are now.

lol i had AceMegaPak Codecs , it took up 1 Gig and it turned out to be a trojan, watch urself m8 :tp:

thats what i was told by my friend it could be but it happens with EVERY mpg file i have and even some it didnt used to happen to.

Also when i play it in kazza before it finishes downloading it will play fine. i downloaded a few music videos... 40 meg ish and if i pause them on kazza just before they finish downloading i can watch all but the last few seconds but then if i was to let it finish and play it, it will be out of sync.
