I've read from Mafiacoders that this Guy/Her said it came from the word 'OWNAGE',Get it O and P are next to each other in the keyboard he or she might think the person might have spelled OWNAGE to PWNAGE by accidently added a new letter to OWNAGE.In my own way I think it started when I was first play Gunz (IGUNZ GunZ The Duel: International Edition) I saw this word OWNAGE I dont know what it means I thought it means you own things or whatever.I still dont get how the word PWNAGE exist or where did it came from my first thought of reading and playing games I thought it was created by the Koreans players they good at such games I might think they have created these gaming words. What do you think?

Uhm... no. Wayyy before Gunz even came out. I'm not 100% sure, but didn't it have to do with someone mispelling owned and typed pwned or that and something to do with LUA ( Life, Universe & Everything ) board that was on GameFAQs?

I thought it was like ownage, cause you own something. And pwnage cause pwn= pawn like a pawn's on the chess board you own the pawns.

MentaL, Kaoii, and NoPeace met up and all decided. And that's how its been.

For **** sake, stop asociating Warcraft with World of Warcraft you kids! :icon6:

As Link said, Warcraft is a game in itself. Together with Dune2 it defined the RTS genre, and in fact Warcraft 2 is still an awesome game to play.

Ontopic, where the term pwnage comes from I do not know, but it definately preceeds any games known now. As said, the hacking community of the 80's is responsible for much slang, I don't doubt wikipedia when it states it originated there.

Yeah I wasn't talking of wow... :P And I wasn't talking about the cpu lagging but the connection itself and not bcoz the internet but bcoz battle net is sooo full... and there's always like 0.5 delay unlike on hamachi or ggc.. how do you explain I dont lag there?

"Sometime in the 1980's, along with the advent of the hacker phenomenon, "pwned" became a synonym for "hacked" or "taken over by exploitation of a vulnerability." The word "pwn" remains in use as Internet social-culture slang meaning: to take unwilling control of someone else or something belonging to someone else by exploiting a vulnerability."
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^right there, taken right off of the site for those of you too lazy to click the link in here, that's apparently one theory out of 3, the other one is a typo, and the other one was a word said by the queen of england...that one seemed most reasonable
