Ok, so I want to buy a 500GB external hard drive. I was wondering how long they last and where I can find a good one on Newegg.
I would like one in between 60-80$
Thanks for the help, I'm having a very hard time finding the right one.

depending on how you use it and how big it is (2.5 or 3.5 inch) now, do you want to buy the pre assembled one, or buy an enclosure and harddisk and screw it in yourself. from what i know, they are pretty much the same. look around the internet for reviews and comments and then see if you like the looks. then just buy it

I want to use it to install games to and whatnot. Music, games, apps, etc.
Kinda like a main hard drive but being portable. Would that work or should I buy an internal and buy an external? I just don't know which one to buy because I've seen bad reviews and was told some don't even last a year.

if you are not going to bring it around much, get the 3.5" ones. cheaper, but bulkier and powered by ac outlet. if you need to bring it out and around, get the 2.5" ones.

I mean I don't know which one to buy. I want a cheap one off Newegg within 50-80$. There's some with bad reviews and I want someone who knows which one is good off there to tell me.

Edit: This is xdarkreaperzx, it's just I signed into an old account by accident.

ok,
dont get a 2.5", their failure rate is higher and their usually are slower.
dont install games onto external hard disk unless you connect it via sata, sas, or some other fast interface (usb/firewire is fail) you will have the slowest loading games on this planet.

from my experience, external hard disks usually have cheapest, value tier hard disks. so if you buy your own enclosure and your own hard disk (which is way more expensive) you can have a more reliable external hard disk.

if you dont need an external hard disk buy internal hard disk, thats it just buy internal hard disk.
