Idea: Make Your Own SSD

So, I was thinking, since SD memory cards store their information in a solid state, why not build a piece of hardware that accepts like 20 SD memory cards at a time.
Sounds crazy?
Well, it would be alot cheaper than investing in a SSD.
What do you think?

Cheaper? Yes. More stable and reliable? No. SSD's have a very fast transfer speed, and from what i've seen SD cards have a very bad transfer rate as compared to even USB 2.0. A good idea in theory but really not practical.

You're too late. This already exists but are no so cost efficient and as said, it's performance aint so great And the "base unit" are pretty expensive too.
