I'm stuck, i can't restore chars(Mangos)

I installed a new pack, i had the platinum pack by amber and now i'm trying to upgrade to a new release, well... i could, but when i import the sql of my chars i get this

It's weird coz i imported the tables and do everything (well, not everything becouse i wouldn't be in this trouble) and i can't restore my chars

Some ideas, cuz i'm out of ideas :scratch:
If someone had this problem and know the awnser plz let me know

Hi Neo.

From the looks of things you have no exported the correct tables, or maybe you have imported them into the wrong database, so here is a quick reference to how to export/import accounts:-
============================================================
Account Restore.

If you have accounts from another server, then i'll explain how you import them.

There is 2 ways or backing up accounts, one is MDH "Mangos Database Handler" and the other is manualy with Sqlyog.

If you have backed up your accounts via MDH, then simply run MDH and import that way.

If like myself you prefer todo it via Sqlyog, then simply do this:
On your current server thats running, close it down.
Run sqlyog and connect.
Right click on the mangos database and select: Backup database as Sql Dump
It will bring up a window, the left hand side is what tbales are not being exported into an sql file, and the right hand side IS whats being backed up.
Click on the Icon << this will deselect all tables.
Now all the tables will be on the left handside.
This means we can now pick out what tables we want to back up.
Tables to backup:-
==================
auctionhouse
all character tables "yes them all.."
corpse
all guild tables "yes them all.."
Item_instance
mail
all Raid tables "only 2, but yes, take both"
==================
Now at the topright of the Sql backup window, you will see: Export to file.
click on the little icon next to it, and pick a location to save your backup to.
Now pick a name for it "I always call it mangosbak".
Click on export.
Done!
Now right click on realmd database.
And select the Backup database as Sql Dump again.
This time your backing up the whole thing...
Just pick your location to save it, and give it a name. "I call it realmbak"

Your Accounts are now backed up

To restore your account son your newly made server:-
Open up Sqlyog.
Click on connect.
Right click on mangos database, and select: Restore from Sql Dump.
Simply located your backed up file you used "the one I normaly call mangosbak" and hit execute.
Do the same with realmd database.

Thats your accounts restored.

If you find it hard or too messy todo this via Sql, then download MDH "Mangos Database Handler".

It's a very handy frontend tool for Mangos servers, and uses a very easy account backup tool

2916_character.sql adds column 'gmstate' to characters so the correct procedure would be to apply all sql's from \updates that are above the release you were using THEN backup! This makes sure any Db structure changes are made before the backup so the import will be trouble free.
Its sooo easy once you understand

Hi Evilryu, and thnks for that guide. it help me out. I was using Navicat but i read in some treads that sqylog is way better, so i'm using sqylog now.

Shiva, thnks for the awnser, i understand now what the update folder is for.
I did all you told me guys and i could do my restore without any troubles, thnks :biggrin2:
