I should add, if I HAVE TO get a Dedicated Windows server for this to work, I can get one relatively quickly. I'd rather it run on Linux Red Hat since it's what i'm used to. Does anybody else have this running on Linux? I have not seen any posts about it.
The
only possibility to run on Linux is via a Virtual Machine. VMWare for preference, but Virtual Box will do.
The current servers REQUIRE Microsoft SQL Server, as well as being a Win32 PE executable.
While you can run Win32 PE under Wine, I don't know of a good method to install MSSQL under Wine, and the server has never been sucessfully translate to work on MySQL/Postgre/etc etc. Many problems
will arise, and high level of technical expertise in running Windows client server software under Wine will be required.
I wont say it isn't possible... but I don't know of anyone managing it
yet.
The worst point of the server, is that it isn't a server application... it's a client window mode application... which means the moment you log out of the Administrator account, it shuts down. :*:
From a Unix / Server admin point of view, this is ridiculous, but that's what we have to live with.
The short, but inaccurate, answer is... yes, you NEED a Windows Dedi with Terminal Services admin access... and you NEED not to log out of the Admin terminal.
