I have a dedicated server that I'd like to fun a PT server on. I don't know if this is the wrong thread for this, but is anybody interested in installing a working version for a fee?

Please let me know.

Thanks.

You have Windows based dedi with Terminal Services admin connection?

What functionality do you want on your server? (game + max level? + Clans? + Bless? + SoD2? + Which maps & items & what sort of client + What sort of Exp rate)

There are many ways to set up PT server... I would personally try some different configs before buying Dedi, but if you already have Dedi (for some other reason) I suppose it makes sense.

I think many here can set up a basic server for you... but what you want from it... well... there are different ways of doing Clan / SoD etc... most of us only really know one of them.

Yes, good questions. I currently have multiple Linux Red Hat servers, I can provide the specs if needed. I don't want to install it on a local server, I want to use one of my remote servers since it would be dedicated and i'd like for others to be able to join online and to have it always running reliably.

I want max lvl 120 ish, Clan ability, BC ability, SOD ability, normal X1 xp rate to begin with for testing and basically all the same maps the regular game has if possible up to ET. I'm willing to pay for help. I'm trying to work through it myself ATM but may not be able to figure it out... not sure yet. :)

I should add, if I HAVE TO get a Dedicated Windows server for this to work, I can get one relatively quickly. I'd rather it run on Linux Red Hat since it's what i'm used to. Does anybody else have this running on Linux? I have not seen any posts about it.

The only possibility to run on Linux is via a Virtual Machine. VMWare for preference, but Virtual Box will do.

The current servers REQUIRE Microsoft SQL Server, as well as being a Win32 PE executable.

While you can run Win32 PE under Wine, I don't know of a good method to install MSSQL under Wine, and the server has never been sucessfully translate to work on MySQL/Postgre/etc etc. Many problems will arise, and high level of technical expertise in running Windows client server software under Wine will be required.

I wont say it isn't possible... but I don't know of anyone managing it yet.

The worst point of the server, is that it isn't a server application... it's a client window mode application... which means the moment you log out of the Administrator account, it shuts down. :*:

From a Unix / Server admin point of view, this is ridiculous, but that's what we have to live with.

The short, but inaccurate, answer is... yes, you NEED a Windows Dedi with Terminal Services admin access... and you NEED not to log out of the Admin terminal. :ott1:

If I get a Windows Dedi server with Terminal Services would you be interested in installing it? If so, what price? you can pm me.

Thanks.
