Well...even it were untrue..becoming invisible IS possible. The only reason we see ANYTHING is because our eyes see the electromagnetic radiation that hits an object and gives it certain qualities like color, etc.
If you could make that object bend the light rays and not allow them to bounce off of the object, you won't be able to see that object.
And you can see things at night because of the moon..it is called Twilight colors. It's what dogs can see(dark blue, black, grey, other colors that we can see in nighttime light).
It is possible...you can bend light with light. Not sure what the equation is though..I can ask one of my relatives assuming he is still alive. Used to be a Physics professor...I'm sure he knows.
And yes..this would be a horrible invention. Einstein was sickened by the creation of the atomic bomb..he couldn't believe it was done..both fascinated and disgusted that he took part in birthing a weapon that can kill massive amounts of life in a single blast.
I assume, though, that perfecting the invisibility will be difficult. Although the object may not be bouncing light off of them, if you're human, you are still emitting heat.
Damn heat
