Just installed WinVista.

Sux ass
Really it kinda depends on what OS you were runnin on before for it to be considered an "upgrade"
Like if u were on Windows ME that **** is so unstable that upgrading to Vista is a good thing..
But if you had XP Media/Pro than you were good to begin with..The only thing I did like about Vista was the visual style, other than that I hated it. They had to many safety features, I had to click "Ok" or "Yes" a thousand times before I could get something to install
(Just my personal opinion, you might like it, people prefer different things)

Doesn't eat so much resources as people says.

Are you kidding me??? vista is such a resource hog it isn't even funny. Not to mention when you put a CD in you have to approve auto play so that auto play can do it's job and....Auto Play!

Vista is even worse then ME, and that's hard to do..

I just bought my new laptop, with WinVista Home premium. (upgraded from XP media center) overall you MUST have 2 gigs of RAM if you game, else you just cant get all the performance, Vista eats up your first gig of ram, but I am impressed with the layout and visual aspects. Plus this thing is fast as ****, though that probly has to do with the computer specs, not the OS. And for all those people that complain about having to approve all the actions that they want to do think about these 2 things. 1. when some spamware wants to install, vista alerts you to the fact so u dont have to waste extra time buying virus software. and 2. you can always turn it off... learn to use the OS before you bash it

Agree with the topic poster. I like Vista. No idea why. But I just like the way it works out. And it doent really hog up that much resources as people point out.

Well, it's a totally different story that my Vista got royally raped and near crash just 2 days ago but fixed it right on time. :icon6: ..Am glad.

vista takes up 800mb of ram on my sisters laptop... and ur saying it dosnt hog up resource...

i using win xp on this comp and it only uses around 200mb of ram...

pfft! Vista sux ass! I'm glad i have xp again tbh... It sux that much that when i tried to open a picture that i received from a friend it took about 5 minutes to open the gallery! AND while moving files to another folder BOOM! suddenly EVERYTHING and i mean EVERYTHING of mine was deleted. ended up looking like a fresh install. What i don't get is why bring an OS out that is barely out of the beta stage? XP will do me fine. And on another note if your graphics card isn't up to their standards you can't have aero glass at all though if you go back to xp install windowblinds (full bought version) you can get the aero glass appearance that looks exactly the same as vista without having to buy a new graphics card!

Your computer and your knowledge of them must equally suck ass - I am running Vista, and it in fact runs faster than my XP did. If your vista is taking that long to load stuff, your comp is not meant for it or you screwed the OS up some how.

And as far as I know, it has nothing to do with being "up to microsofts standards" on your graphics card, it has to do with your graphics card not supporting something aero is using.

edit: Just checked with a m8 (Who was also as hardcore anti-vista as me [see bottom of post], and is now using it) - Aero glass should work with a DX9.0 or greater graphics card, with >=64MB of video memory. He is running a: ATI AIW 9600XT 128meg - so if you dont get Glass, your card sucks and unless you dont plan on playing any of the new games, you should most likely upgrade anyway.

Honestly the Sudo wannabe (UAC) takes a solid 20 seconds to disable.

I agree, its extremely easy to disable. I disabled it.

Yea, just disable UAC...

Honestly, I would have picked Ultimate, if you could afford it.

I run Windows Vista Ultimate with C2D E6600, 2GB DDR2 800 corsair XMS2 dual channel ram, XFX 8800 GTX. It runs faster than a fresh install of XP ever has for me.

edit: And it should be noted, I was about as hardcore anti-vista as you could get, before a friend finally talked me into testing it, and now, I like it.

Vista is actually a good OS, it cache's RAM to your advantage although it seems to take up all of your RAM it is sort of holding it so it can be accessed quicker so you get quicker loading times with programs etc. If you take out all of the eye candy etc, and are just left with the features vista is good for it is actually a really good OS as alot of people will agree.

Vista has good things and bad things, but bad things outweigh the good things, so right now, i'm sticking with windows xp.

Exactly!!!

I've never had a bit of problem with Vista. Yeah it used up all my 2 gigs of ram (just about) but my applications never ran faster than before. I swear, all my everyday applications booted up instantly and my games booted up way faster than on XP. The only issue I have is with gaming, I get like 20 less frames than in XP but then it goes up more than XP so yeah ... it's inconsistant. If I could live with less frames then I'd be using Vista right now. But I'm not :P. I need it for scrims ^_^
