well we have put sql onto another pc and imported the db onto it. That works fine. We set up server dsn for the new mir3db. Now what I need to be sure of (as I thinks its to do with the address to the sql db) is what other changes have we missed?. Does anyone have a guide of some sort.

Yer I have the answer for you:

Make sure you DSN is set up to point to the New Machine mir3db.

In DBsrv3000 make sure all passwords are right etc in setup.

In !setup.txt it says:

CommonDBLoc=<machine name or IP>
CommonDBID=sa
CommonDBPassword=<your password>
CommonDBDSN=mir3db

Im sure if you edit the ini files to point to the second ip it should work no probs. Hell lets have 4 pc's - one is SQL, One is Main login etc and the other two can be split between the areas.

Its not something i looked at aprt from putting SQL on another pc as the load on the server is not great enough for warrent more than one PC for the actual server and with like 3 pc's on and humming away i know i would not liek to sleep next door to that.

My Set up (test rig) is thus:

Dual P3 933Mhz with 1 Gig EEC Ram - Main Server
P550 with 1 GIG ram - this is Windows 2003 and runs SQL 2000 Enterprise.

Copes no problem with that set up like.
