*thumbs up*

Looks like a sound system there :-)

Definatly a darn good Intel build, that 6700 will last you a while yet for sure! And beat the pants off of lots of other machines! :-)

I woudl suggest makign sure you get SATA based Optical CD Drives, youll not have to worry about the clutter of the IDE cable runnign around and stopping needed airflow.. and if you dont have enough SATA ports on the motherboard, You'll be able to spend anotehr 30 bucks for a 2 port SATA II Controller card for 2xinternal ports, that was my origional plan a while back until I got my 6xSata II plugins on my motherboard.

I like it, and as you said.. spend the money now so you wont have to spend it later.. and do it with closed eyes, becasue those parts will all get cheaper in the very recent future!

I might give it one more month before you order any of it, you'll probably be able to get it about 20% cheaper then what it is now, with graphics cards, new chips, and so many other thigns being released, prices will drop pretty quickly :-)

add another 120mm fan to your build and mlunt it to the hard drive cage if there is grates in between slots ill suck air through the case pretty effecient

adn where did you get the 4000 RPM fan?

4000 RPM woudl have like a 38dB - 52dB noise rating.. that is LOUD!

You actually have your music playing that often? What about if you decide to put a movie on.. I can tell you from personal experience youll wish you had a set of my SilenX fans that push 14dB but crank out 72 CFM of air volume ;)

Actually, to be honest, I think that is the only personal recommendation I woudl make, switch the 120mm and 80mm fans with SilenX fans.. and you would be good to go.. You'll truly appreciate the silence they put out, and the amount of air cooling they give tops out any high CFM fans vs. noise... The most sound coming form my case iright now is my 8800 GTS, and even that isnt all too loud =)

The rest is purely whatever youd like with personal choices.. jsut like how I decided to go with an Asus Crosshair, instead of the Asus M32N... Lots more customizability, lots of options =)

No need to double post.

You should change the motherboard to a EVGA A1 or T1 series board. They are slightly cheaper and slightly better.

And the QX6800 is a waist of money! The QX6700 is the same processor and $200usd cheaper.

Since the QX6700 is unlocked you can go into the BIOS and change the multiplier from the default 10x to the 11x that the QX6800 uses.

Do that and you save yourself $200usd and get the same thing. Hell they should be able to run at 12x with no problem at all. Might need a slightly better cooler though.

That's what I'm planning to do with my new setup.

Also with the RAM. You can get cheaper XMS version of the RAM. The only difference between the two RAM is the XMS has a heatspreader while the Dominator has a heat sink. They will perform the same. The Dominator just gets a little higher when over clocking due to better cooling.

Also are you sure your case can hold 6 fans? And you really don't need that many. O.O

NoPeace - out

I think the most optimum cooling you can get goes like this:

*All fans should be at least 120/140mm as they push LOTS more air, and are incredibly silent compared to 80mm and smaller.

*One (Preferably two) 120mm intakes at the front of the case near the lower portion or wherever the CPU is located.
*One (Preferably two) 120mm exhaust fans, either at the direct back of the case, or one at the back, one on top of the case.
*Get a PSU that has a 120mm fan on the bottom that sucks in air, and an 80mm fan on the back to vent the air outside.

Thats currently about the best air cooling you can get, as it intakes as much as its pushing out.. and a large fan on the CPU block helps as well.
