As the sticky here seems horrendously outdated (it's for version 0.1 of the files) here's my setup guide.
1. Head to
To view the content, you need to sign in or register
2. Download the 0.3 server files (you can download the nightly build, but there's a chance they won't work, they're beta)
3. Extract the files to somewhere on your hard drive.
4. Run the convertData.bat file, type in the full address to your installation of L2 (default is C:\Program Files\Lineage II)
5. Open server.cfg and edit it as you see fit (enter 127.0.0.1 as the IP if you plan to play offline, if you want others to connect, type in your WAN IP address)
6. Make a backup of your l2.ini (in the lineage II\system folder) and run updateini.bat, again, point it at your L2 folder.
7. Make an account. There are 2 ways of doing this:
i) Set autocreateaccount in server.cfg to true.
ii) Run startAccountmanager.bat, type in the desired username and password (pass must be at least 8 letters long or the account will not create). When it asks for user level, type 100 for admin access, 0 for normal player.
8. Run startServer.bat and wait for it to say "awaiting client connection"
9. Run the lineage 2 client. If you set the autocreateaccount value to true, type in any username and pass and it will create that account (again, pass must be 8 letters). If you made the account with the account manager, just type in the username and pass you used.
10. Click the bartz server, then click ok. Make a character. To access the admin commands (if your access level is 100) type ".admin" (without the "s).
Thats it, if you really need help after reading this, lemme know and i'll see if i can sort it out.
*edit* to sort out a LAN server, instead of 127.0.0.1 in the server.cfg file, type the LAN IP of the computer hosting the server (you can determine this by going to start > run > cmd then typing "ipconfig" (without "s) at the prompt.)
After you have run the updateini.bat file, copy the ini in your lineageII\system folder to the same folder on the other computers on your network.
