hey everyone. i'm a newbie here.
and the reasson i got here is cause a friend advised me to come seek help here, so i truly hope you guys can!

ok, here's the problem: i'm just a measly gamer, i dont play the big and fancy games. just one game called mu-online. pretty known i guess. anyway, since a few weeks i have been getting random disconnects from the server as a result of a net failure.
at first it was only on one character, but in the past weeks it has been evolving, and right now. i cant stay ingame for more then 2 minutes without my net disconnecting.
i have a wireless net, which i steal from someone down the street with a little dish infront of my window. i've tried at 2 different users. and when i do a ping check, all works fine. i also tried downloading the client again, formatting my computer, disabling my fire wall.

edit: the dish thing might sound strange, so i made a little movie about what the situation is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNUE5-Ttmj4

someone please help me! tell me what to do

do you really think i wouldn't have Internet if i could afford it?
i'm not a criminal, the net is not protected with a password, which gives me the right to go on it

I'm not asking if you guys think it is fair or not, I'm asking for advice!
or help.
and i figured i would get it here.. are you gonna help me or not?

Net failure?

Simple not a strong enough signal, if your talking about stealing some guys wireless that is 'down the street'.

Not only that, but that dude could be kicking you off the net too.

If this 'person' gives you permission to go on it then your not a criminal. If he doesn't and you are using his internet without his notice then you are.

It is illegal to use someone's insecure internet Mr.Smarty. Many people have been charged and arrested down here in the South West of UK for stealing usage of the internet.

You will do too soon if he finds out :). You're invading his privacy.

hmmm, then i would never have Internet. once i close down the game, the net recovers

i feel bad for the guy that forgot to add the password to hes internet, being stoled by some idiot...

well put a password on the phone line
you can do that.

and if she has a phone, and uses her credit, thats thats her fault.
10 pounds a month.

Firstly, wrong section.

Secondly, yes it is caused by you stealing it. Either 1 of 2 things are happening: a) they are kicking you off, or b) the signal is too low so you are being disconnected.

Yes it WILL work again once you close the game down, that's cos as a wireless connection is will automatically re-connect.

Sure you may not be able to afford the internet, but how about the guy who has to pay for your usage? If they do not have a password, i think it is safe to say that they are not IT/internet fanatics. That means there is an 85% chance they have a METERED net, meaning if they go over, they have to pay extra. Stealing internet is worse than a thief; you are stealing bandwidth that they will never get to use, yet they have to PAY for it at the end.

i really hope the guy that has the unpasswored wi-fi has to take out hes internet connection... dont have money for internet, dont have internet.

omg! i'm being judged here and you people dont even know me, or my situation!!!
as i said, i'm a measly gamer. i play .. 5 hours per week?
downloading? .. only a patch, or a client .. thats maybe twice a year!
for the rest, nothing really.
i never tried to use this net to hack into someone's computer
or get files from their computer.

also, here we dont pay extra if we go out of our bandwitch, it just switches to smallband. but i have never experienced that with the net.
i had internet from a cable, i know what it costs..
i know that its bad and wrong to do it.. but thats not what i came here for! i ask for help and all i get is some no-life jackasses who think they are mr. bigshot, and think they got the right the judge me.
like they never took a candy out of the cookie jar when mommy said no.. :bad:

you are using someone elses bandwitdh, doesnt matter if its just for a small shit... u are stealing! you are making other people pay for your measly gaming... It doesnt matter if the have to pay or not, the point is u are a thief! the no-life idiot here is you, not being able to work for ur internet, how old are you? i mean, here is people that works and its not even 18... and its not like they do it because they need it, the do it cause they want to get the stuff parents wont give them... grow up and get a job.
