Networking pcs

kk ive got 2 pcs in my house

ive got:

my broadband modem
a usb hub
and 2 usb cables

1cable to connect hub to bb modem
1to the other pc

is that all i need to network pcs??
 
Yeah, that should be about right:

Modem----(USB Cable)----4 port USB Hub----(USB Cable AtoB)----Desktop1

(USB Cable AtoB)---------------------|

Thats the setup you use, but if you got laptop you should try wireless, its fun.........

Your crossovers, and straight throughs :-) Most people wonder why their connection lights arent blinking green and not even showing up.


Broad Band Modem --> to Computer <=== Crossover

Broad Band Modem --> to Hub/Router/Switch <=== Straight Through


least i think i got that right.. I have my A+ and Cisco certificate but i alwas sucked at that part of it :-) lol

They using USB cables not cat5. :)

But this is new to me, you can share ISP connection with one IP off one broadband modem with a USB Hub?
 
yep =) you MUST make sure that your broadband modem has some sort of DHCP server mode, or else your net will crash every couple minutesdue to interfering IP's. Win XP does alot f this automatically though
