My computer's messed up.

• Can't download stuff (it will freeze, this is on the internet, and msn)
• It doesn't show stuff (On RaGEZONE GunZ, it wouldn't let me see my level and such above my HP bar)
• On some private servers when I register it kicks me off (When I go to register)
• My internet is slow
• Some MSN messages don't come through to me (I don't receive them)
• At least 10 times an hour my MSN will kick me off

What can I do to fix anything?


Idk if it helps but, I'm on a Windows XP, my router is plugged into my computer.

Please note that, it did some of this in my old house also (connected to the internet by a cord) but not all of it..

SO.. try to be a bit more specific about hardware.. you said you did some of it by "cord" (Cat5).. are you running wireless as well? Are you on a laptop? Whens the last time you ran a computer cleanup program? Registry Mechanic, Lavasofts Adaware, SpyBlocker, run a few of those and see how well that works for you.

Hmm.. It's a desktop, I ran a cleanup program a few months ago (should I do it again?) I think It's wireless.

A friend said I should reformat my computer, should I, or are there other ways?

Formatting is the last resort, run scans every week to be sure and make sure that your virus/spyware definitions are up to date. Also what speed is your wireless connection & the strength of the signal? Could be that you're trying to receive too much for the signal to transmit since I've had that problem before (Wired ftw tbh).

If you've got a low signal strength then that might be the problem... It's hard to diagnose "what's wrong" or how to give advise without actually seeing it close up & having more information.
