My dad was showing me the new PS3 the other day, so I figured I'd make a post about it here (apologies if it has already been posted). Well, awhile ago, Sony released a "new" PS3. It's basically like the PS2 Slim, but it's a PS3 Slim. It's $299.99 upon release, rather than the expensive $699.99 upon release (according to the TV program I just watched). Its a third of the size, weight, and uses a third of the power consumption that the original PS3 uses. It comes with a 120GB hard drive, Blu-ray player, but is not able to play PS2 games like some of the original PS3 consoles (depending on how many GB's you get).

What do you guys think of it? I guess it makes sense since Sony was struggling with selling PS3's, so they made a new and slimmer one and dropped the price by a landslide.

Its cool I dont think you'd need a hard drive that big unless your a massive gamer (60gb is enuff) looks abit ugly tho
PS. theres a 250gb slim coming out (google it)

the old ps3 looks much better than the slim edition...and i heard that the blu-ray drive is worse than the normal ps3 has...
the slim edition has got only 2 USB-Ports and no card reader...(which sucks too)

There is never going to be a 250GB PS3 slim released, it's just people who have removed the old hard drive, copied the data onto a larger hard drive and installed that.

And it looks pretty damn horrible.

You can play PS2 games with the first one..

Only with some versions. I believe it's only ONE version of the 80GB (if you look on the box theres a little code, and I think theres 2 different versions of the backwards compatibility). Unforfunetely, the 80GB PS3 I got can't play PS2 games.. no more Sons of Liberty and Ratchet and Clank for me D: (although I got my PS3 like 2 years ago, lol).

And yeah, 2 USB slots is sort of a bummer.

Can't you just download the PS2 thing from the PS Store?

The original 60GB had the Emotion Engine when it was first released (the EE is the processor which had the capability to emulate PS2 games), I don't see why they aren't re-adding it since having the capability to play PS2 and PS3 games would be a major sales boost for the PS3.

Yeah no kidding. I was pretty dissapointed when I found out my PS3 couldn't play PS2 games, lol. My PS2 (or it may have been my PS1... but I'm POSITIVE it was my PS2) had a chip in it (in Saskatoon they called then 'chipped' PS2's, lol) where you could download games off the internet, or burn games (rent them and make a copy), then play them in your PS2. If you didn't have that 'chip' your PS2 would't recognize the disk. So, I only had like 10+ real PS2 games, the rest were burned.

Eh I haven't really been on much since I started playing MMO's, but CODMW2 is coming out soon, and I don't wanna get addicted to an MMO when school starts, so just send me an invite: Blaargblaarg

Oh yeah. xD I might make a new one, but 'Shabutie' is taken, so I'll have to think of something I can add to it.

I might get a PS3 now their getting all the good RPG's and the new remake of tales of vesperia is fucking amazing.

Oh well gotta wait till I get a job D:
