Ok well I have a laptop Acer Aspire 3200 and I keep it on my lap for a while and it gets like REALLY hot and I touch the heatsink that's on the left side of my laptop and it's blazing hot and in Maple Story I FPS lag every time I hear my fan make a loud noise, then I fps lag like crazy even though 1.8GHz processor 128 MB of Graphics and 3G of ram is enough to play a 2D game... Anyways I just took out a BRICK of dust from my fan AND heatsink and now I play Maple Story and it's SO SMOOTH but after a while I still FPS lag... Can anybody tell me why I FPS lag a lot even though with great well, enough specs to play Maple Story... I'm using a AMD Sempron processor 3800+, ATI Radeon Xpress 1100, 60GB of Hard Drive Also I don't have a lot of space on my hard drive and when I watch movies in Windows Media 11 it like lags and freezes for a bit then it fast forwards and catches up to it but the audio is fine also my W key is like sticking to the keyboard and I don't have any sticking thing like gum or juice on my keyboard and every time I press it down for like 5 seconds it stays stuck and I have to grab it and pull it up. Any help? Thanks!

,Alan

1) Make sure your CPU fan is not dusty, or in that case any fan in your computer
2) Try and turn all of your fans up to the highest RPM possible.
3) (Last resort) Buy some more fans and put them in your case.
ALSO: You should stop overclocking if you are.

  • I have made sure I don't have any dust in it I just cleaned it yesterday =].
  • How do I do that? Do I need a software for it if so I really need the name of it.
  • It's a laptop so I'm gonna have to buy a different bottom for my laptop with 3 fans I already saw it on www.tigerdirect.ca
  • I'm not overclocking I can't my bios are locked.

You cleaned your laptops heatsink?

Speedfan, google it.

Chances are what you're talking about isnt a different bottom, it's a cooling pad, you just put the laptop on the cooling bad and it pulls or pushes air through the vents on the bottom of the laptop.

Yes that's what I meant ok I'm going to download speed fan my friend uses it too. Anyways yeah I'm going to download it and do you need anymore information? Also any help on the W key?

There's not much help I can say.

But on the W key, have you tried pulling it off completely and using a cotton swab to clean out around it?

I'll get on that right away, also is it normal for a laptops core to be 59-62 degrees? Also how do I make my fans RSP go faster? I do not know how to do it in SpeedFan cause it doesn't show my CPU fan.

He mentioned many times it is a laptop, hence all of those points are void.

When it FPS lags, open task manager and take a look at your CPU load. Try and see which processes are using the CPU, and end them if they are not needed. Also do not run anything in the background.

No it is not normal for it to be going that high, there is either alot more dust stuck somewhere, or there is something putting your CPU on full load which causes lag and overheating. Mine goes to about 60 degrees only cos it is overclocked, on stock it does not go over 30 degrees.

I think that's a pretty normal degrees, but that's probably idle, check it under load and tell us the temps.

When Maplestory starts slowing up, tell us the temp. then.

If it doesn't show your CPU fan, then you probably cant change it, except maybe through the BIOS.

I have done that except I have WAY to much processes that I do not know what the hell they are. So I'm scared that if I take it out it's a virus that when touched it becomes a time bomb and messes my computer. Also I put Vista on my laptop from a copy on the pirate bay Windows Vista Home Edition 86x 32bit but it's always been that hot and nothing has ever happened also I NEVER hear my fan until I'm doing something that will make my CPU go crazy like Maple Story. I was gonna buy a extra cooling product to put under my laptop and cool it down a bit more. Is there such thing as a better heatsink for a laptop that I can buy that will cool it down more?

Ok I'll give it a try. When I start up Maple Story like when it's loading the Nexon page I hear my fan go crazy then when the Nexon signature pops up it stops and now that I took out the dust I feel more cool air coming out from the bottom than hot air like before.

PS: Also when my computer is idle it still uses up to 100% CPU doing nothing but being on msn but also I'm downloading Get smart the movie so that might be pushing it a bit too far too. Also if you want I can SS all the processes in my task manager and show you guys I have 6+ Svchost.exe as always but on my other computer I only had max 2. So why on my laptop I have over 6?

Omg, This is bad!

I opened Maple Story to check my temp while playing Maple Story and my Core went to 0 and a bunch of cold air started coming out of the vents and in SpeedFan it says CPU 0% Core -0 degrees. Here's a picture.

That is a bug, But your temp. Might be way way up, I suggest you just buy a cooling pad, If you've cleaned the heatsink&Fan and it's still doing it then there's not a whole lot you can do.

Btw, The number of Svchost running will always vary, depending on what you're doing, and honestly, having Vista on that laptop might not be such a good idea, even though the laptop can handle it, it's probably constantly stressing it a bit more than intended, So the HS/F might not be able to handle the constant heat it's giving off from being constantly stressed.

Even though your GPU is integrated it's still generating heat, make sure everything around that is clean aswell.

100% load while doing nothing = virus or something else running in the background. find what the process that is taking up all that CPU load is and end it.

He probably also has Anti Virus running and such..
But just still counts it as Idle..

Just search through your Processes
Under the CPU chart, find what ever is taking a huge chunk out, Its normal for System Idle Process to be high, but anything else above 30+ CPU usage, probably isn't good to have running.

Ah ok well is there any tutorial on Google that shows how to install a laptop's cooling pad? Cause I have NO idea how to I'm better with PC's then Laptops.

Try keeping it on a table, my laptop does it sometimes too

I just keep it on my table, and it spots over heating.

Usually your lap keeps the heat from the laptop

Well I'm near a tv and my mom doesn't want me to put my computer in the living room cause she's crazy and I love watching something while working it causes less stress for me cause I got nerve issues lol. Anyways I have kept it on a table too but I never saw a difference.

Also back at FrozenRat right after I put Vista on my laptop it was SUPER fast like atleast x2 or x3 faster.

He probably also has Anti Virus running and such..

I have a good Anti Virus but takes a lot of CPU while updating or downloading updates (Same thing basically lol) It's McAfee 2009.

Well I found this thing that made no sense I thought it just came with Vista it's called Wave.jugs.jugs.something I forgot (Obvious virus.) But as soon as I took it off my start up my computer restarted didn't turn on for like 30 minutes after me pressing the power button like 30 times then it turned on and it was REALLY REALLY slow if you want I can give you a HiJackThis log?

You just place the laptop on top of it...You don't actually install anything, you just simply put it on top of the pad.

And ANY operating system will be faster with a clean install, it's nothing special.

If you had one virus, You probably have more, Just do a complete scan of the hard drive.

Ok I'll scan with McAfee and SuperAntiSpyware right away also, how can I pull off my W key I tried like 5 times and it didn't come off. Also I noticed all my RaGEZONE friends helped me on this one lol.

alright simple ways to maintain your lappy. esp. if you have never done this before.

get a can of compressed air, spray the vents. this will get rid of most of the dust. do this about once a month or two. once a week, get one of those blower thingys where you squeeze the ball thing, air comes out. get it?

second. defrag your hard drive. esp since its almost full. defragging increases your drive's access speed and prolongs the life of it.

get a cooling pad. yeah, its just a pad, most of the times with two or three fans. these will help cool your com.

and don't place it on your lap. moving the laptop while the hard disk is spinning may damage the drive.
