Well I have enough right now to buy a PS3, but by Christmas time I could have enough money to buy a new computer. I am wondering if it's worth spending $400 on a PS3 and then buying a mic and a few games, or should I just use my money elsewhere. I have a PS2 but obviously it is outdated.

Personally, I have 360, PS3 and Wii, and I can say that I only really find myself playing the 360. The cost for the Xbox Live is virtually nothing with the quality of service you get to play online - it is cheaper than many PC MMOs. You will find that almost every game on the PS3 is on the 360, apart from exclusives (e.g. Metal Gear Solid). Although the PS3 has sixaxis controls, I find it is merely a gimmick and doesn't greatly add to the quality of gameplay. If I were you I would save your money and buy your new computer and/or a 360.

course its worth it
all depends on what ur planning to do with it
if u only want to play games get a 360

if u want games and a state of the art mediacenter buy a ps3

tho if u dont have a hd tv to play it on it aint worth it

major fail
ps3 media center is only superior if you have apsp and like to watch movies on a 4.3 inch display :)

xbox mediacenter > ps3, exp if you use tversity as server

mp4 sucks with ps3, also buying movies online sucks with ps3
on the other hand the psp <->ps3 connection is sweet with recent firmwares

Quite nice that it upscales all your DVDs though, plus PlayTV soon looks very nice. I do actually use my 360 for music too by connecting my Ipod, works crap on the PS3

i own nearly no dvds :)
for music i would use ps3 since i love my psp and bought no ipod so far (ipod touch or iphone maybe next month, or a acer one dunno yet)

I personally choose cable over wireless everytime with gaming, with regular PC usage and all it's fine, but if you want to game then you want to get the best connection possible. ;)

Btw the Pro and Elite versions come with a mic already.

To answer your original question though, yes the PS3 is worth, so is the 360. Depending on what you want to do with your PC and what you have now, i would have to say it's not worth getting a new one if you just want to use it for gaming, it's seriously lacking games.
