OK, I've been trying to work this out for some time. Why does everyone say 'pwned'? Is it cos some1 made the mistake of pressing p instead of o one time and now everyone says pwned? Cos ARGH its annoying me.

pritty much yes.. i guess some 1 just made the mistake.. and its just lived on.
no think about it, its a rank insult
in chess a pawn is a low ranking piece, if youve been pawned then you must have been de-ranked to the lowest possible rank
eg
cap: omfg 1 r0x0r @ Cs 1m4 |<1LL j00 411
ex: we'll see about that! *Head shot*
ex: cap you jus been pawned
then over time it was realised it is far more l337 to miss out the a and say pwned instead
